Pig Tails and Skid Marks

Those are our highlights of today. I got Ellie's hair into something that looks like pigtails. They are kind of messy and probably won't last long (I got some quick pics) but I think they are cute. The skid marks come from Jackson and his new bike. He loves his new bike but we have had nasty weather this week so I have let him ride it around the house. It doesn't do well on carpet so he rides the loop around our kitchen and dining room. Much to my disappointment, when he brakes, it leaves skid marks. I have been able to rub them off with my foot so I am not to worried. I'll try to clean them this afternoon after he hopefully tires of it for a while. Other than riding his bike Jackson has had a lot of fun as I try to domesticate him and make him more independent. He knows when he is done eating he is supposed to bring his plate to the kitchen counter. He can get himself water from the fridge and a snack from the pantry when it is snack time. He can get dressed by himself including socks and shoes (he can't tie them yet) except for his shirt. I have also been having him help me make his bed and put away his laundry. Not to say he doesn't fight this, but I want him to learn that he is expected to help with this stuff. He will complain when he has to clean up a bigger mess he has made, such as in the playroom, by complaining that it is "very hard work" but once he is done, he is very proud of what he has done. Hopefully we'll get some nicer weather and after our "yard" dries out enough in a couple years to plant some grass, trees, and flowers, he can help out there.
