We had a busy, but fun holiday weekend with all of our families back in town. I will give a very modified version of the weekend. Before we got the weekend started, we headed out for a "picnic" lunch at the lake and Jackson, Ellie, and Carson got to play around on the playground there. Jackson also got to have his friend, Kirsten, over to swim which he really enjoyed. Then Friday was Carson's 1st Birthday. The big party wasn't until Saturday but Amanda took everyone out to eat for his birthday lunch. Then everyone else started coming in Friday night. Saturday brought more people into town-my cousin Jimmy, his wife Jane, and their five kids. All the kids had a great time swimming and playing together. Jackson even started venturing out a little with his floaties on-a major accomplishment for him. That evening, Amanda and Todd put on a great birthday party for Carson. Some old friends from the neighborhood and school days came along with family and it was great getting to see everyone. Amanda had the cutest decorations and yummy food along with some great cupcakes and cookies. The kids even got to help Carson open his gifts since it really isn't his thing yet.
Then Sunday we went to church with Andrew and his family (Annie, Brad, and Lauren were back in town too!) and, of course, to Pizza Hut. We got to spend a little time at the pool before I had to head back and start getting dinner ready for everyone. Sadly, the Sedlaks had to head back Sunday morning since Sara still had a lot left to do to prep her classroom and not much time to do it. But the rest of our siblings, spouses, nieces, nephew, and parents came over that night for dinner. The kids got to play in our yard that now looks like a field (hopefully they will come mow it soon) and we got to enjoy the patio. Annie, Brad, and Lauren stuck around a little longer that night and Ellie and Lauren had fun trying on my shoes and playing with the baby dolls-they are both pretty girly which is fun.
Monday, Andrew and I celebrated our 7th Anniversary! How things have changed in these short, seven years. I pray that we get to celebrate these years times 7. We actually ended up going to Columbia last minute to get a new truck. Andrew wanted to take the kids because he really misses spending time with them, but we both knew we were due a "date" and so we went by ourselves and enjoyed a meal together and a little shopping along with the whole truck thing. When we got back, Jackson was very excited to show us what he could do in the pool. He was actually swimming across the pool-with floaties- and was loving it. We were very excited for him and only wish we had at least another month of summer so he could really enjoy. I hope we don't have to start at square one next summer. So overall it was a great, fun-filled weekend. It was great to see everyone and can't wait until next time which will be down in Gulf Shores in mid-October for the Farwell family and hopefully Halloween for the Early family. One last thing-Happy 2nd Anniversary to Sara and Ryan!
