Jackson has been desperately wanting to go fishing ever since he and Andrew got their fishing rods for Christmas. Especially the last few weeks, he would say as we drove by Spur Pond on Osteopathy that, "It is a good day for fishing." Well Andrew had a big hearing today that he had been preparing for the last several days and it got continued this morning because the PA had a migraine. So Andrew picked up Jackson after school and they went to Wal-Mart to get all the necessary gear for a good day of fishing. Jackson was so excited. They just got home a little while ago and I just had to post these pictures- he is too cute. They each caught two fish! Andrew tried to throw them back in but Jackson objected and I guess threw a pretty big fit because he wanted to take some home and cook them. I think this is mainly because they bought a special knife and cutting board to prepare the fish and Jackson wanted to use it. So they are out in the driveway right now enjoying all the blood and guts- not my thing. Jackson said they are going to cook them because the have "yummy stuff" in them. We'll see what he says when it is actually time to eat them. I think I'll eat our already planned dinner of mushroom steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans.
I also have to brag on my kids a little, since it seems like I spend a lot of time talking about them getting in trouble. First of all, we went to Wal-Mart the other day and I am proud to say that as we were walking out of the store with our groceries, Ellie was eating the grapes we just bought and Jackson was eating a pear. These are the kids (probably like most kids) that would prefer to eat junk food all day long. It was a fleeting moment, but I was proud. Then last night, Jackson came up to me and told me he had a surprise for me. He excitedly took me downstairs and showed me how he had cleaned up the playroom. It looked very good and he did it all on his own without anyone asking him too. He said, "Are you so proud of me?" Andrew and I definitely were.
