Spring Break

Spring Break is here and I already feel like it has been a long week. It has been a pretty good week though. We didn't do much Monday, just getting caught up on some stuff around the house. I had a little project planned, but it didn't really work out. I had some plastic stars with holes in them that I thought the kids could use some yarn and plastic needles to "sew" on the star. Well the holes were too small and would break when you pushed the needle through. So I tried to get them to just wrap the yarn around the star and Jackson would have nothing to do with it until after I found some actual needles I was able to get the yarn through after some work and he got bored with the sewing bit. Oh well. We tried to get outside and play because it was supposed to be a little warmer but there was a pretty chilly wind. I had Lincoln in the carrier with a jacket, hat and mittens on and we only stayed out there maybe 15 minutes and when we came in and I took off his mittens his hands were bluish and cold. I just kept rubbing them to warm them up. Jackson and Ellie quickly gave up on riding their bikes and headed over to play with Addie and Gracie. Tuesday Jackson had a hair cut, we ran quite a few errands and just watched movies and played around the house. Andrew had a meeting to go to Tuesday night so I brought out our other project which was painting canvases. The kids loved it and I think they turned out cute. We'll have to do this one again.

I'm not sure what Ellie's painting is (she didn't want to quit) but Jackson said his was the sky and sun and then he is standing on a chair trying to get on the mantel above the fireplace at Grandma and Papa's. The pink and blue circles beside it are just "decoration." I had planned on hanging them up in the playroom, but they both want them in their bedrooms.

I brought out a bunch of new (well new to Lincoln) toys for Lincoln to play with. I have a basket I just dump and he crawls around and finds different things to play with.

Wednesday morning we went over to the church so the kids could play with Zach and Kate in the play place there. It is a great place to go to let the kids run off some energy. Zach and Kate had some of their riding toys there since they had just moved and the kids got to ride them around inside (the building used to be a factory so there is a lot of open space with concrete floors). Later that day the sun came out and it got up close to 60 so we got to go outside. I cleaned the garage and our car. Then that night we went bowling with the LaBeths. It was pretty entertaining. I think our group lacked some talent. Jackson and Ellie both offered to teach me how to bowl since they just learned during their trip up to Iowa. Mike ended up winning after Andrew had a strong beginning with a couple strikes. Check out the form.

Now this next picture is pretty sad. Lincoln sitting on the floor of Leisure World. He was taking his bottle and the only other place to put him would be one of the tables and they were very unstable.
So we get home, do baths and get to bed because the next day was was our big day for Spring Break-going to Chuck E Cheese. And then Andrew wakes me up around 3:45 to let me Jackson threw up. He actually slept in the family room with Andrew and threw up some on the carpet and did a few more rounds in the bathroom. The next half hour was actually kind of entertaining and I wish I could remember all that went on because Jackson was still saying the funniest things. Andrew handled it all very well and took care of Jackson while I just laid there and listened. He told Andrew that he thought he needed to go to the bathroom so Andrew came into the bedroom and laid down for a bit when we hear the explosion and Jackson yells out "I've got diarrhea! Diarrhea guys!" Some of you know exactly what he sounded like yelling this. Again, he said some funny things but I don't remember much from that time in the morning. But I was thinking that our trip to Columbia was probably off. So Andrew lays Jackson down in our bedroom by the bathroom door and he heads off to the office because he feels like he can't go back to sleep. Jackson falls right to sleep (I think he had been up most of the night just tossing and turning) but I can hear Ellie upstairs. Her bedroom is above ours and she has decided the past few nights that she wants to sleep on her floor. She has also still been having some stomach issues so when I hear her moving around I decide I should check on her. But she is still asleep, I just think she was thrashing around in her sleep a little bit. And it continues through the rest of the night. I wake up around 6:40 and turn off my alarm and then call Andrew to say maybe we should just try to go the next day and Jackson wakes up and says he feels better and he begins to beg me to go to Columbia. I explain to him that we could go tomorrow and today he can just rest because as he was talking to me he could barely keep his eyes open. He tells me he will sleep on the way so he won't get sick. So I tell him to go take a shower and we'll decide after he is done. He said he is feeling "pretty good" and that the shower was a great idea to "warm him off" and that he could now keep his eyes open. He was not going to give up on this. So I get up, use the carpet cleaner on the floor where he got sick, clean the bathroom and then start getting ready. Jackson didn't get sick again, so I don't know what was going on with him. Maybe it was the almost full box of Cracked Pepper and Olive Oil Triscuits he ate the day before. So on to the rest of the morning, I go to get Ellie up and she starts crying saying her legs hurt and she can't walk-no idea. I get her to go to the bathroom and she is still having diarrhea. We were able to get a stool sample to take to my dad's office though. She sits on the toilet for probably 15-20 minutes. In the meantime, Andrew has come home and gotten himself and Lincoln ready and headed back to the office. In the midst of trying to attend to Ellie, I hear a thud downstairs and Lincoln start screaming. He had crawled near the fireplace and his problem is he drools and when he does this on the tile in front of the fireplace it makes it slippery and then he slips when he tries to crawl over it. So I get him and call Andrew to tell him to come back home. Ellie just doesn't seem to be feeling well but the kids are not giving up on going to Columbia. So I get Ellie ready, finish getting myself ready and make sure Ellie eats a banana and applesauce plus takes some medicine to try to combat the diarrhea for the road. Before we can leave town we have to drop off the stool sample and stop by the new office for Andrew to meet with the flooring guy (which by the way, the office is looking great. They are close to being done with the painting right now so I'll try to get some pictures and post them). We finally get out of town at 9:30-an hour later than we had planned but I figure it was not that bad considering everything. We make it to Columbia without incident and eat at the Olive Garden. Neither Jackson nor Ellie really eat much, but Andrew and I don't want to push it right now. Lincoln on the other hand would get upset when we would eat. He didn't even want his bottle-he wanted our food. So he got to enjoy a little bit of a breadstick. Ellie did have a little accident and some more diarrhea but we came prepared. We finally made it to Chuck E Cheese and the kids had a great time. I think they were a little disappointed it what they were able to get with their tickets though.

After Chuck E Cheese, we did a little shopping and the kids got to play at the play area at the mall and pick out a cookie-about the only thing they ate. Then we headed home and they all slept. Andrew and I just wished we could sleep.

Here are a couple of pictures of what Lincoln was doing while we were trying to eat dinner. He was standing up in the first one and then he was trying to reach more cords on the other side of the table.

And lastly, I had to put on this picture of Jackson and his latest break dance move. He actually twists in the air-Andrew and I were very impressed.
