This past weekend our little family went separate ways. Andrew and Jackson stayed in town for a little "bachelor party," as Jackson calls it, and some turkey hunting. Ellie and I headed to Kansas City for Briley's birthday party. Jackson was very excited about the turkey hunting. He spent part of Friday going through Andrew's hunting gear and then Friday night he and Andrew got everything set out and loaded up on the most important part of the hunt-the snacks. Jackson even got a camo backpack to put his snacks in. So they headed out early Saturday morning and as I was asking Jackson what he was going to do if he got a turkey, he said, "I can't wait to see what the Hubba Bubba it going to taste like." This was referring to the gum he got. Andrew said it was a pretty unsuccessful hunt but the loved spending the time with Jackson. He said he needs a picture of them coming out of the woods-he is holding his gun, the popup blind, the foldup chair, and Jackson's backpack of snacks and Jackson is holding his bag of Doritos.

Ellie and I headed out Saturday morning with my parents and Molly. We met Lissy in Columbia and then headed to the Pinkalicious birthday party. Andy and Autumn did a great job with Briley's party. They based it off of one of Briley's favorite books- "Pinkalicious." Everyone was supposed to wear pink, everything was decorated in pink, and there were pink cupcakes just like the ones in the book. Ellie and Briley were very excited to see each other and had a good time playing. After the party we all just hung out and did a little shopping and the next day we headed home. Andrew and Jackson didn't go hunting on Sunday so they were able to get some of my "honey-do" list done which I was very excited about. I came home to mulch in our flowerbeds and when it quits raining, Ellie will discover that her great dad put some sand in her sand box. Next up is Bella's 1st Birthday Party on Saturday and then the next weekend, we head back to Kansas City to spend Mother's Day with Annie, Brad, and Lauren at their new church, and the next weekend is back in St. Louis for Zane and Kaitlin's Bachelor/Bachelorette parties. Should be fun, but then I think we will enjoy some weekends at home.

JACKSON'S QUOTE(S) OF THE DAY

Jackson has a new-found interest in becoming an X-games participant. He decided he wants to be a snowboarder and be in the X-games. I told him that you have to practice a lot and there is no place to do it here. He said, "That's okay. I'll just go up to Iowa."
I was putting the kids to bed and gave Jackson a kiss and he said, "Mom, I specifically told Dad no more kisses. I am too old." He broke me heart. I told him that Granny still gives dad kisses. And he said his cousin Colin doesn't get kisses anymore and I told him he was probably wrong.
Jackson tossed a bag of Ellie's toy across the room and the toys fell out. He said, "I'm sorry Mommy. I'm sorry Ellie. I didn't know it was open. I should probably go downstairs and play some video games because I am just too wild to be up here."
"It is freakishly cold out here." while heading out to the car after school on Monday. I totally agreed.
Grandma- "Your daddy works a lot." Jackson- "Yup, but he never gives up."
Talking about "Man From Snowy River"- "This is a great movie mom about the scallion and the brave cowboy."
"Daddy, you don't have to worry about anything. Life is good."
"What time are we going to Chucky Cheese? It is where all kids can play and all parents can relax." (The closest one is in Columbia, but I don't tell him that.) When I tell him it is far away he says, "But we can bring our blankies and sleep on the way home."
As he put Jackson to bed on Christmas Eve, Andrew told Jackson to let him know if he heard reindeer hoofs on the roof and Jackson said, "I can't Daddy. He knows when you're awake."
"Wow, I've never seen real knights before with swords." This was after he saw the Knights of Columbus line up at the beginning of Midnight Mass
"I am totally strong Mommy. But I won't hurt you. I'm a superhero and I only fight bad guys."

"Mommy, you are so nice I can't take it anymore."

"Do you know what my favorite part of the popcorn is? The butter!" Poor kid doesn't know he is eating SmartPop and there really isn't much butter on it. He should hang out with Grandma if he wants buttered popcorn.
On the way to school today. . ."Mommy, I think that God makes balloons. He sneaks into Wal-Mart at night and makes them."
"My tree frog is doing great. It is sleeping now. It sleeps with its eyes open like me!"
"God made me very brave." He said this after he put his head under the water several times for extended periods of time.
"Mommy, I want to carry your hand because I love you." He said this when were getting ready to walk back to my parent's house from their pool house.
J-"Molly made my heart break." Me;"Why?" J-"Because she wouldn't let me kiss her toes." (Molly had hurt her toes the night before)
"Buffaloes are big and strong, but Daddy is stronger."
"I want square triangle bread with butter and no tops." (that is toast in case you didn't get it)
"I'll just eat grass." Referring to Briley's birthday cake. He kept saying he wanted a flower and Molly told him they were for girls
"Mommy, why do I pick my nose all the time?" said as we were driving around town this afternoon.
"Mommy, I was kind of grumpy at the house." This was as we were going into school and he had been upset at home because I would only let him bring 2 trains with him.
"Mommy, you remember my Buzz Lightyear outfit? We need to get a Zurg one for my daddy so we can play together." (In case you don't know, Zurg is Buzz Lightyears enemy.
"That's how the beautiful girls dance." after doing a turn for me.
Jackson tooted, so I said to him, "What was that?" He smiled and said,"It sounded like a frog. Ribbit."
"I want to do that when I get bigger." while watching a break dancing group on "Dancing With the Stars"
"My feelings are hurting me."
"Grandma, you're being grumpy." Even though my mom wasn't grumpy at all- Jackson was definitely the grumpy one.
"I'm so excited my legs are shaking." Jackson said this while we were making a fruit pizza for his snack day.
I asked Jackson who they prayed to and he said, "God." I said, "Where is God?" Jackson replied, "In the roof."
Posted on Jackson's school bulletin board - Jackson is special because. . . "I am."
"Mommy, your eyes are cracked." I think he was talking about the wrinkles underneath my eyes or my eyelashes since I had mascara on and usually never wear it.
"Mom, I'm going to get your chips when we get home. That's very nice of you to share." I guess Jackson decided for me that I would share.
"You can't be serious."

"Daddy, were the cats and dogs peeing on you?" in response to Andrew saying, "It's raining like cats and dogs out there."
"I'm the most specialest kid."
"Ballerina's are cute. Mommy is a ballerina." After much discussion on ballerinas because Jackson was dancing and said he was a ballerina and Andrew told him ballerinas were bad. But he was also told that ballerinas are cute.

"It's not fair." I don't know what he thought was unfair and I don't know where he got the phrase from but I imagine we will hear this many times as he grows up.
