We got everything cleaned up and the crew headed home around 2:30. I finished cleaning up some stuff and got Ellie laid down for a nap. I then got to rest for a little bit before it was time to start getting ready for the second party of the day-Jackson’s surprise party. He was with Andrew most of the day helping with a cattle drive. I guess he actually did have to help this time and he watched one side of the road for cows for “like a million hours.” Since he was gone most of the day, there was never a conversation about his next birthday party. Lissy picked up the cake and balloons for me while Ellie was napping, so I was able to hide them before Jackson got home. After Andrew and Jackson got home and cleaned up, they headed out again to get some flashlights for my parent’s Easter egg hunt that night. Jackson was very excited about the hunt, so this was another distraction. After they left, I got everything set up for the party and our families showed up. We all hid down in the basement and Andrew had Jackson come directly downstairs when they got home (Andrew said he threw the flashlights behind him on the floorboard while they were driving down our street and asked Jackson to pick them up so he would be looking down and not notice all the cars parked on the street). When he got to the bottom of the stairs, we all yelled “Surprise” and some people even got him with some silly string. Jackson had his goofy little grin on and he was very excited. He told me it was “the best surprise ever!” Then it was time for some pizza, presents, and cake. I am so happy it all worked out and Jackson loved it. After the party, we headed over to my parents for our first ever night-time Easter egg hunt. There was a wide variety of “flashlights” being used. It was pretty fun and entertaining. Kaitlin ended up finding the golden egg, so Zane was pretty proud. Before the hunt, Jackson decided he needed to do a few push-ups so he was prepared. He had a fun time hunting, but in the end I think he was a little disappointed. When we asked him what he got, he said, “Just some M&Ms.” But then he went back out and came back with $6-he was very excited about this.
