This past week was spent getting back to real life after
vacation. So Monday was spent finishing up the unpacking process and laundry.
We also had a couple more ball games. Ellie had a ballgame on Monday and
Jackson had one on Tuesday. They were both part of their tournament play and
they both ended up losing close games. Since they each lost a game while we
were on vacation, it signaled the end of the season for them. But they both
went out with some good hits and good plays in the field, so we were proud of
them. And my dad got to help coach Jackson's team since Joe was out of town and so was the other dad that would help Andrew out when he would have to be head coach.
We had several repairs that had to be taken care of during
the week. The dealership had my car a couple days while they repair the back
liftgate that wasn’t opening. Then our AC wasn’t working very well so the
repairman had to come and discovered it was low on Freon and he got that taken
care of for us. And a fun moment of the week was having all of our appliances
for the remodel delivered. I had to take delivery of them earlier than I wanted
because I had to get the serial numbers off of them by July 18 to submit them
for the rebate and extended year warranty I qualified for. The delivery guys
were great and quickly unboxed them and gave me the cards with the serial
numbers and then put the boxes back on and took away any packing material that
came out.
Ellie was all sorts of crafty during the week. She and her
friends started making bracelets with hemp cord and beads and decided they
wanted to sell them and then use the money to buy more materials to make more J. I’m not sure what
their ultimate goal was. But she did go to Andrew’s office on Saturday and
clean for a couple hours and earned $20. Then she went grocery shopping with me
on Sunday and bought more supplies. She has made bracelets for me, Lincoln and
the twins and charged us all $0.50 each.
I also got her involved in making some party favors for Lincoln’s
upcoming Minecraft party. She made perler bead Minecraft character necklaces.
Grace helped her with a couple while they were all watching Kung Fu Panda 3 and
then Jackson wanted to help too. He even made Lincoln an early birthday
present-a diamond sword necklace.
Ellie also got to play at Kiersten’s house where they played
wiffle ball with shaving cream and then jumped on the trampoline. Ellie had a
lot of fun!
It was a week of planning for me. I spent time this week
finally working on Lincoln’s Minecraft party. It is his first friend party so I
had to think about activities and favors. I went with a swimming party to keep
things simple. So I worked on a banner, cupcake toppers, a centerpiece, food
labels and ideas for the rest of the party. I told Andrew I even brainstormed
while doing my 30 mile bike ride/2 mile run brick the other day as a way to
distract myself. I also worked on some stuff for kamp and getting stuff ready
for the remodel. It will all be happening around the same time, or at least in
close succession, so I am trying to stay on top of it.
And in the midst of it
all, we got a new niece/cousin. Caroline thought she may be in labor on Tuesday
and my parents ended up heading to Tampa on Wednesday. She was okay throughout
Wednesday but then when I was out for a ride Thursday morning, I started
getting all sort of texts notifications. I got out later for my ride because we
had some fog so it was closer to 9:30. I get notifications on my Garmin when I
receive a new text but it doesn’t show the text. I was able to read part of the
first one from my Garmin while I was riding and it was from my mom saying Emmie
was on her way. Then I received at least 10 more and I finally decided to pull
off on Potter on my way home and see what they all were. And it was just everyone
responding to my mom and everything was fine. We waited all day with a few
updates when they finally decided to do a c-section after Caroline pushed for
an hour and Miss Emmie Grace was born around 9:45 that night. My parents and
Lissy were there and Lissy got some super cute pictures. Jackson and Ellie were
excited when I showed them the picture the next morning. Lincoln was
Lincoln-kind of indifferent. And the twins weren’t sure what I was talking
about. But Emmie is so precious and we can’t wait to meet her! So while I was
working on the stuff for Lincoln’s party, I got to work on something for Emmie
too J.
The twins kept busy this week destroying the play room
multiple times while I was working on everything. They did a lot of cooking,
setting out train tracks, playing super heroes and building all sorts of stuff.
We did end up cleaning up the playroom a couple times during the week. And they
keep asking me when they are going to be older like Lincoln. Lincoln even told
them when they get older and smarter they can be friends with him and his
friends and go to their houses. I explained to him that he is already their
friend and he responded by saying he just meant that when they were older, they
could go over to other houses to play.
Jackson so much wanted to get in the Pokemon Go action. He
went out with his friends that had phones a few times but then got bored of it
since he was basically just following them around everywhere while they played.
Then they left to go to other areas to find more and Jackson came home and went
to his room. Then he broke down. He had handled it all pretty well up to that
point. He understood why we weren’t getting him a phone yet (you have to have a
phone with an actual plan since it uses GPS) and looked at options of one to
ask for for Christmas but then when he was left out yet again, he was sad. He
tried to hide it from us though. So Andrew let him use his phone and he was so
excited. He only gets to use it every now and then when Andrew is home but he
has handled it well.
We ended our week by going to church and went to my parents
so the kids to swim. We hadn’t been
there for a couple of weeks and it was a muggy day, so we went for a couple
hours. Andrew and Buddy showed up for a bit too. Then we went home to make
dinner and played outside a bit even though it was still toasty. And the twins
had fun playing with Andrew’s bike pump when they figured out how to make
tooting noises with it. They thought it was hilarious.
