Is It Already the End of June?

So after I finished up our last post, I ended up making a quick trip to Westlake to pick up a Knock Out rose bush since one of ours hasn't come back.  I thought I would try to plant it last night but I had trouble getting the old one out.  I need to cut through some roots and it was dark so I left it for the morning.  Andrew did an early morning bike ride and then I went out after him.  The wind was pretty calm so I stayed on it and was able to achieve one of my goals.  I have been wanting to break the 18mph average for my route and I finally did it.  I did around 14.25 miles in a little under 47 minutes with an average of 18.2 mph.  If I actually stick with this cycling/triathlon thing then this may be a fun stat to look back at.  After I got back, Andrew left to take Ellie to school and I started working on digging out the rose bush and planting the new one.  I also cut back the other rose bushes.  I think I will need to replace a few  more next year as they aren't looking the best this year.  So I did some weeding and also decided that we may need to update a few things but that can also wait until next year.

When Andrew came home for lunch that afternoon, he said he wasn't feeling well and just laid down on the living room floor for about 20 minutes.  Then he decided to just go ahead and cancel a phone conference he had that afternoon and go lay down for a while.  He was feeling really dizzy and nauseous.  So I decided to take the kids swimming and Ellie really wanted her friends to come.  Andrew was fine with me just laying the twins down at home while he rested and I took the others to my parents.  So as I was taking the twins upstairs to lay down, I came upon our laptop that the kids use and half of the keyboard buttons had been popped off.  I'm not sure which twin did it or if it was a joint effort.  Jackson started working on fixing it though and has four keys he still needs to get back on.  After the twins settled down we headed to the pool.  They all had a lot of fun between all of their games and eating snacks.  We headed home a little after four and the thankfully the twins were still napping.  Andrew woke up too and decided he should head to the office while I took the kids to Lincoln's tee ball game.  The twins were actually pretty good and just roamed around behind our "field" during the game.  My parents came too and then they were off to the movies.  When we got home I had Jackson help me get the recliner from the nursery outside because I had a lady who bought it off swap shop coming that evening.  But then Andrew showed up and he put it in her car for her.

Wednesday just seemed to be a crazy day where I had a lot to do but I just wasn't accomplishing much.  The kids in our neighborhood had organized a bake sale to raise money for another kid in our neighborhood that is receiving treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma.  Addi was in charge of doing a lot of the baking the night before.  Ellie had class in the morning so she missed the first few hours of it but then she got in a little bit before they shut it down for a few hours in the afternoon.  Lincoln and Jackson helped out a bit too.  I made some banana muffins and brownies.  I think the kids may have ate more than they sold, but thanks to some "advertising" on Facebook, they had a lot of people show up.  My mom ended up picking up Jackson, Ellie and Lincoln that afternoon and took the swimming.  Kathy Powell and her grandkids were coming to swim so my mom thought they may like some kids to play with.  I did a lot around the house including taking down the cribs and putting them away in the basement. :-(

That evening Jackson had his last ball game, so Andrew picked up the kids from my parents and brought them home for a quick dinner.  Mikail came to watch the twins and Ellie ended up staying to help with the bake sale since they were opening it up again that evening.  Jackson's team had a fun game to end their regular-play season.  They won 5-4 and Jackson made a great catch at third.  I think he struck out once, grounded out once and got on one time and made it home.

We went out to eat afterwards with Andrew's parents and I had to promise Ellie I would bring home my leftovers for her.  So she ate them at the bake sale table with just her fingers-lovely.  The bake sale was finishing up just as we got home and they made around $460.  The boy, Hayden, even stopped by and grabbed some lemonade and then they walked down to his house to present his money to him.  They were very excited about what they were able to accomplish!  And then they played some Knockout to finish out the night.

The older three had dentist appointments first thing Thursday morning, so I dropped the twins off with my mom and we headed to the office.  Ellie and Lincoln went first so I could take Ellie to her class right after she was done.  And I guess I forgot how Lincoln acted last time and I forgot to threaten him to behave before we got in there.  Well he didn't cooperate the best and they just got a little cleaning done.  But thankfully no one had cavities.  We dropped Ellie off at school and went back to pick up Jackson.  Then we did our grocery shopping before picking up the twins and heading home to unload the groceries.  Andrew ended up picking up Ellie so we didn't have to do that.  But we ate quickly and then had to head back out again so that I could drop off my car at the dealership (they were going to try to get the quarter out and service it before our trip) and be back to my parents by one since we had some friends coming over to swim.  My parents were still without air conditioning in the main part of their house, so I didn't even try laying the twins down and they got to swim with the rest of the kids.  They all played hard with a couple snack breaks and it was a fun afternoon.  But then we had to head home, eat a quick dinner and head to Lincoln's last tee ball game.  Andrew was a little late getting home from work, so he just met us there.  The twins were kind of grumpy since they didn't have their naps, but we made it and ball season is now over.  Jackson has a tournament but it is while we are on vacation.

When we got home from the game, I cleaned up from dinner while Andrew took the kids outside.  It was another night of playing until dark then inside for quick baths and bedtime.  I had some office work to do and stayed up late working on that.  I should have gone to bed earlier because I was wanting to go on a run the next morning.  I don't really get the chance to run outside so I told Andrew I wanted to Friday morning.  I had been doing some interval training on the treadmill and was hoping to see my time improve.  It was not a fun run.  I don't know if it was the lack of sleep or that I have had a little cold the past few days, but my times were slower.  I was planning on running four miles, which I have done before without any problems, but after the 5K mark, I stopped and walked for a couple minutes and started running again.  And my 5K time was slower than my last 5K so I was disappointed with all of it.  I know everyone has a bad day, so hopefully next time will be better.

Later the morning, we dropped Jackson off at swim practice and then headed to Ellie's school to attend her open house for her last day.  I put Miles and Bennett in the stroller and they were not happy once we got into the class room.  The rooms seemed small with a lot of people in them plus some upset twins, so we didn't last too long.  Luckily there was enough noise that I could let Ellie show me some of her work and the twins crying didn't stand out too much.  But then we were really blocking the way so we waited out in the hallway for Ellie to gather up all of her stuff.  We ran a few errands after that and then picked up Jackson from swim practice.  The kids just played between different friends houses the rest of the day while I worked on some baking for vacation, some work for Andrew and getting things ready to paint in the nursery/office.  Then that evening Andrew got a ride in before dinner.  And then during dinner, the kids noticed that the LaBeth's were getting a sprinkler out to play in, so of course the older three had to join in.  Well the LaBeth's yard still isn't filled in all the way so it ended up being rather muddy and the girls took advantage of that. :-)

Later that night I got the first coat of paint done for the office.  Then on Saturday Andrew took all the kids out to the ranch so I had big plans.  I got a bike ride in and then came home to do some major cleaning and finish painting the new office.  The kids had a lot of fun out at the ranch.  The older three got to help move some cattle on horseback and Miles and Bennett had fun watching, eating snacks and just getting dirty :-).

They all immediately took showers/baths when they got home.  We had some thunderstorms off and on through the afternoon/evening so the kids just kind of laid low.  I stared working on packing for our trip which is going to take me a while.  I always feel like I am going to forget something.  I made my last Wal-Mart run later that night after the rain slowed down a bit.  Everyone was in bed when I got home and when I check on the twins they were thankfully asleep in their beds, but Bennett had pooped.  I was able to change him quickly without really waking him up or waking up his brothers.  Then Andrew was up early the next morning to get in a long bike ride before church.  He went the furthest he has ever gone and did 40 miles, which was awesome!  After church and lunch, I worked on the blinds in the new office.  Bennett's crib used to be beside the window and he managed to break off 5 of the slats on the blinds and I was just going to throw them away and get a new one.  But then I realized we still had extra slats on the bottom so I researched how to replace broken slats and was able to fix the blinds.  I had just enough slats at the bottom to fix the broken ones.  Later I took the kids over to my parents to swim while Andrew went to the office.  I let the twins play for a little bit and then I took them home to nap while the older three stayed at  my parents.  I worked on more packing stuff while they were sleeping.  I got all of our groceries in order along with all of our supplies for the driving part of the trip.  I have a kind of large pile of clothes collected now and hope to sort through those today and get most of the packing done.  I was hoping we could fit it all in the back of the car but I don't think that is going to work since we have the stroller, back pack carriers so we can take the twins hiking with us, bike helmets and all of our gear for biking, puddle jumpers, groceries, a cooler of food, along with our suitcases.  But I took a break from packing to make dinner and then went for a bike ride after we got everything cleaned up and my dinner had settled a bit.

Monday was supposed to be all about packing-or at least trying to.  As you can imagine, there have been lot of distractions.  So I decided to finish this up real quick, get the twins down for a nap and get busy!  Jackson is supposed to have a make-up game tonight that we just found out about yesterday, but it looks like it is supposed to rain so I'm not sure that is going to happen.
