Jackson's camp was just a couple hours and he said he liked it when we picked him up. After the twins went down for their nap, I brought out our slip-n-slide and pvc pipe sprinkler for the older kids and some of their friends to play with. The fun lasted close to an hour before the slip-n-slide sprung a leak so I took it all down. Jackson came inside to rest a bit before his game while Lincoln and Ellie kept playing outside.
I had to get everything ready to go to the game. It was at 5:15, so I knew it would be hot and everyone would be hungry. Andrew took Jackson early so he could warm up and the rest of us showed up just as the game was starting. Jackson had a great game even though they loss. They were tied until the last inning when the opposing team went on a hitting streak and they ended up beating us by 4 points. Jackson's first two hits got him out at first, but he brought in six runs. Then his third at bat, he had a single and eventually made his way around the bases to score a run. He played centerfield most of the game and had some awesome throws in-even one that almost made it all the way to home. My parents came and of course my dad took the kids to the concession stand and to the playground for a bit. The twins weren't the best, but they weren't horrible either. Except for the part where Bennett pooped and I was waiting to change him because Jackson was coming up to bat soon. Well he proceeded to stick his hands down his pants and get some on his fingers. So I got him cleaned up, saw Jackson make a great hit and then took him to the car to change his diaper.
After the game was over we decided to head over to La Fuente for dinner. Andrew was about ready to take the twins home soon after we sat down but then we discovered that they were happier with their own bowls of salsa. It was a messy dinner so it was a good thing we ate outside. Once we got home, we let the kids play outside for a while since it was such a nice evening. As the night was winding down, Jackson and Ellie decided it would be a good time to do a little training for their running race that is next weekend. Andrew and I gave them our phones so we could track their distance and time and they both did a great job. But it was getting darker so it was time to head in, do baths and go to bed. I ended up staying up late because I was had some office work to finish. I also was trying to import all of my workouts that were on my Garmin to the app that I used to track everything before I had my Garmin so I have it all in one place. After I got it all done it was neat to see my "lifetime stats". I have only been tracking my miles since last August but I am up to around 860 miles total including my swimming, biking and running.
Ellie had been waiting on the tooth fairy who kept forgetting to get her tooth. She did leave a really sweet note with her tooth that was addressed to her mom just in case I happened to be the tooth fairy.
Thursday
ended up being a pretty busy day. Andrew
went for a bike ride in the morning and then he got to take Jackson to
basketball camp. I had quite a few
things I was trying to get done around the house nad was doing okay that
morning. I decided we should try to get
to Aldi to pick up a few things before we picked up Jackson from camp. We left the house around 9:35 and I told the
kids we had to move quickly. Ellie got
the cart for me and we loaded the twins up.
I even let Ellie and Lincoln pick out a lunchable for lunch that
afternoon which is unusual. But we were
out of there and at the school at 10.
Ellie immediately went to her the LaBeth’s house when she got home because
they were planning something. They worked on it the day before too. Soon afterwards she came home and told me
that I needed to come over the LaBeth’s back porch. So I gathered up the twins and we headed over
there. Leah and Tiffany were both there when
I showed up and there were candles lit along with a chalkboard sign that said “Mother
Dauter Spa” on one side and “Happy Mother’s Appreciate Day” on the other. Then they painted our nails for us. I let Ellie pick out my color and I got hot
pink with a coat of silver sparkles on top.
I don’t think I have painted my nails besides a French tip since before
I had kids because I got annoyed with them chipping all the time. She actually did a pretty good job with
them. Then it was lunch time. They gave us menus they had written out with
our different options for a main course, side, dessert and drinks. Then they served it to us on roller
skates. Ellie did accidentally drop my
grilled cheese on the floor though J.
It was all sooo sweet of them! My only
problem was that the twins didn’t think it was all a good idea. There was a lot of screaming and crying from
them along with me constantly having to get up and make sure they were still in
the back yard or house instead of the front since no one was out there to keep
an eye on them. If they did make it out
front and I went to get them, they would run away. Leah said that she didn’t understand how I
didn’t drink J.
After
our lovely lunch, I worked on getting some stuff prepped for dinner and then we
headed to my parents for some swimming.
One of my goals of the afternoon was to see if I could get the twins to
nap in a regular bed instead of the pack-n-plays. I put them up in the smallest room at my
parent’s house and sat right outside the door.
It took about an hour of me getting onto them before Bennett finally
fell asleep, but Miles was really fighting it.
I went ahead and took the kids out to the pool. My mom came out a little later and said Miles
had gotten out of bed but she had him get back in bed. He cried for a bit but I think he eventually
went to sleep and I think they both slept for a little over an hour. A small victory. I can’t decide if it would be better to just
put them on the floor and hope they don’t bother each other as much. I am hoping that when I get up the nerve to
move them to their own beds at home that it will help with napping at my
parents. And the older kids eventually
learned to have fun with each other while swimming instead of fighting. Another small victory.
After
swimming, we headed home so I could make dinner. Andrew got home just as we were sitting down
to eat and I was done by that point. It
had been a long day and the twins were upset and screaming about something
while the other kids were yelling to try to get my attention over them. So Andrew suggested I go on a bike ride, but it
had rained and I was just exhausted by that point. So after we all cleaned up dinner, I headed
to Home Depot to get some ideas for our office/mudroom project. When I got home they were all outside and
Jackson and Ellie had already done their biking training for their triathlon
and all the kids were running around playing.
So we stayed out until dark. I
ended up staying up later that night too trying to get more ideas for the
office. At one point I heard something
outside the door and thought that maybe Miles had gotten out of his room. I opened up the door to find a sweet card
from Miss Ellie. She had made one for
Andrew too and put it by him.
Jackson
had his last day of basketball camp Friday.
He really enjoyed it and is already looking forward to another one. It rained off and on during the day so it was
a good thing we didn’t plan on going to the pool. Jackson still had his game that night because
I guess it didn’t rain as much in Brashear where his game was. So that evening, I loaded up the twins and
Lincoln and dropped them off at my parents and then Ellie and I went to her
rehearsal while Andrew and Jackson headed to his game. Ellie’s first routine was her gymnastics. She looked so nervous up there and forgot a
few things. But she did get most of her
tricks and was happy about that. And she
did great with her other routines. We
stayed around for the most of the rehearsal because she wanted to see all the
routines. I figured it was better than
staying for the whole recital, so I brought stuff to work on while she watched.
Andrew took the older kids out to the ranch Saturday morning while I cleaned the bathrooms and rode the bike before the twins got up. Sometimes I decide to be nice and clean up the kids rooms on Saturday mornings because Andrew doesn't make them do it before they leave. I did smile when II saw this. Our big boy still is little at heart (have I mentioned that his footsteps now sound like Andrew's-it is hard for me to tell them apart sometimes).
Then he and Jackson headed out to help some friends move into their new house. I was grateful he decided to stick around the rest of the day instead of going to the office. Our neighbor had some extra black dirt he had hauled in for some landscaping so Andrew loaded up some of it to finish reseeding some of the yard. I was able to do some grocery shopping, get Ellie some flowers for her recital, and run by Home Depot, Dollar Tree and Walgreens. Then Ellie and I had to go to my parents house so my mom could braid her hair. I still have not figured that one out. On the way home, I called Andrew to let him know that the pizza would probably be delivered soon. He and Jackson were out back playing catch and they still were when I showed up. The pizza guy was already there looking in the door to see if anyone was home. I ran to the front door to get the pizza and then saw that the kitchen faucet was dripping water and there was water on the counters. Then I looked over and saw Miles with my camera (I had been charging the batteries on the counter). It was high sequence setting so he had taken a lot of pictures, around 200. Plus he was washing his hands and the lens ended up with soap all over it. Thankfully it was all okay, but we had just a little time to eat, get ready and head to the recital. Aubri came to watch the twins because I knew it wouldn't be a good idea to take them. Ellie was a pretty nervous little girl because her solo was her first performance. She rocked it though and we were so proud of her. And she did great with her other dances too. It is fun to see the change from when she first started
And we were happy we were able to leave just a little after intermission. I guess the recital wasn't over until 10:30 or so. So we skipped out and headed to Tru Yo for some frozen yogurt with the grandparents. It was a great night for Ellie. Plus she got to spend the night with my parents and go to Briley's recital with them the next day along with Molly who just got back from kamp Saturday night.
Andrew went for a long bike ride Sunday morning with our neighbor and then we went to church. We had planned to pick up some lunch and head over to my parents to swimming for a bit before nap time but I ended up not feeling very well and actually took a nap after lunch. I had started marinating some pork chops for dinner that morning, so I had to get up and finish getting dinner ready. Andrew grilled the pork chops and we just ate outside to cut down on the mess inside. Then we decided it was time to get the four wheelers out for the twins. We started in the back yard on low speed and the learned pretty quickly. They loved them but would get frustrated every now and then. They had a lot of people to help them though. We have banned any other kids from getting on them for right now in hopes to keep them lasting a bit longer and cut down on the chaos.
Jackson ended up having a sleepover with Zach Sunday night but they dressed up to do Night Ninjas for a bit before. Alex and Lincoln did too but theirs got cut a little short. Andrew and I were both ready for bed.
Ellie had to be up and going early the next morning. She has basketball camp this week from 8-9 at her school and then she goes directly to her reading/writing program until 11:30. So far she seems to enjoy both of them. And Jackson got back into swim practice. We are hoping he can go to a few meets this summer. We kind of laid low the rest of the day since I still wasn't feeling the best. It didn't keep us from getting some injuries though. First, Lincoln came inside crying with a bloody lip. He face planted off of his scooter and ended up with some abrasions on his chin, nose and elbows along with a busted lip. I got him cleaned up and checked out his mouth and it all looked good. So to calm him down, I set up a DVD player in his room so he could lay down and relax. And it thankfully helped. Then an hour or so later, Ellie came in from the back yard and I could tell she was about ready to cry...and then she did. She proceeded to tell me that she jammed her finger while they were playing basketball out back. And her finger was swollen and eventually started turning black and blue on the back. She was a little harmer to calm down. She would be okay for a bit and then remember that it hurt. I offered her some ice or to tape it, but she didn't want anything to do with them. Eventually she took some Tylenol and then we were off to my parents to celebrate their 41st wedding anniversary. The original plans were to go to AJ's but they have started closing on Mondays. So my mom made her own anniversary dinner. I felt bad but she had already started it when she called to let me know what the plans were. And it was a really nice night out so Andrew and the kids enjoyed some time in the pool followed some time outside with their friends before we headed in for the night.
