The kids had their last week of school this past week. Suprisingly thought, our week wasn't too busy. I finished up teacher gifts Monday night and sent them with the kids on Wednesdsay.
Even though the kids and I didn't have as busy of a week, Andrew did. He had a trial on Wednesday that he spent a lot of time prepping for. He was able to join us for dinner at my parents Tuesday night though. The kids and I headed over there after Jackson's swim practice. My mom's friend, Cheryl, was in town and we got to visit with her. Since Andrew had a trial on Wednesday and a CLE in St. Louis on Thursday, I was in charge of all the drop-off and pick-up for the last two days of school. I do think getting up a little earlier in the morning and from their nap did affect the twins somewhat-they got kind of grouchy :-). Andrew did get done early enough on Wednesday to get the yard mowed and he recruited a helper who was excited about his new job.
Thursday was the last day of school for everyone. Lincoln's class had a "picnic" to celebrate the last day. It was a cool, dreary morning so they had their picnic in their classroom. They just ordered Happy Meals for the kids and Lincoln got to stay a little later. Later that afternoon we picked up Jackson and Ellie. I tried to get a picture of Jackson walking out of the school but failed. It did make me kind of sad to see him walking away from there for the last time and knowing that he and Ellie are going to be in different schools next year. Actually we get to do the three school thing next year which should be fun.
Thursday night I made one of the kids' favorite meals, French Dip Sandwiches. Andrew wasn't going to be home until later so we had my parents, Lissy, and Molly over for dinner. I also decided to do s'mores to celebrate. My dad got the fire started in the fire pit for me while I cleaned up dinner. He decided to move it out to the middle of the yard and one of the legs broke off and the whole pit tipped over. They got the hose out to it quick enough though and got it put out. He ended up balancing the pit on top of some paver stones and 4x4s we had. It wasn't pretty, but it worked and we all had a great time. The LaBeths came over and Faith eventually made her way over. Our neighbor, Zach, from across the street, came over for a little bit to. His dad is the president of ATSU and they go back and forth between here and Phoenix. They were actually heading back to Phoenix for the summer the next day. Andrew got home around 8 and was able to join us too. While we waited for the fire to get hot enough to roast the marshmallows, Lissy and I set up an obstacle course for the kids to run through and get timed. They had a blast with it and then it was time to eat..

The kids slept in Friday morning but Ty was at the door a little after 8. Lincoln and Ellie heard the door bell ring and eventually made their way to the top of the stairs looking all groggy to see who it was. They were quick to get ready and head out to play. Ellie said she had told Gracie that they needed to get up early and meet outside. I spent the morning debating whether to take the kids to the airport tour that was going on around 11. I knew I had to admit that I probably couldn't do it by myself since the twins would most likely want out of the stroller and would go opposite directions. But yet, I wanted to be able to do it by myself. Lissy said she would go with me and I knew the kids would enjoy it, so we loaded up the stroller and some snacks and headed that way. They got to see a Cape Air flight land and take off, look at some other planes on the ground, and see the fire truck they keep out there for emergencies. Their friend Zach was actually taking the flight out, so he got to hang out with them for a bit. At one point I heard him telling Jackson and Ellie that they needed to give him hugs since he was leaving :-). Miles and Bennett enjoyed the freedom and definitely would have been grumpy boys if I had to contain them just so I could keep track of both of them. Thanks Lissy for the help!

After the airport tour, Lissy decided she would take the older three to La Fuente for lunch. I kept the twins, fed them lunch, and then put them down for naps. We stopped by my parents for a bit that afternoon because Kaitlin and Zane came into town. Then it was off to ball games. Andrew took Lincoln and Jackson to Jackson's game at Patryla Park while I took the twins to Ellie's game at North Park. The twins and I did pretty well for a while. I kept them in the stroller and just sat on the ground beside them. I fed them a lot of grapes and we talked and cheered on Ellie. Then after the grapes it was cranberries, then applesauce, then fruit wheels. They finally tired of me and my snacks but I bought us over 1/2 an hour. Then it was time to let them out of the stroller and I gave them cars and balls to play with and they stayed by me most of the time. Bennett did decide to poop so I just laid him on the ground behind the stroller and tried to do a quick change. My parents, Lissy, Kaitlin, Zane, and Owen showed up towards the end of the game and were able to catch a little bit of the action. And then we all headed to Jackson's game after Ellie's was done. Miles and Bennett were not easily contained there plus Miles decided to poop. My parents ended up taking them home as we watched the rest of Jackson's game. It lasted 2 hours-that is a long time for a game with not much action. I was thankful we didn't have to keep the kids there that whole time though. Excuse the pictures. I just had my phone and it is kind of hard to take pictures through the chain link fence.
After the games we went to my parents to eat dinner and Andy and Autumn and their kids got into town. They had Asa's graduation that weekend. It was kind of a damp weekend but the kids did get to enjoy playing together and even had some time in the hot tub. Andrew got a couple of rides in over the weekend too in between the downpours. My parents did Molly's birthday dinner Saturday night and the twins enjoyed both the fried chicken and the ice cream cake.

Sunday we went to church and then over to my parents for leftovers for lunch. Andrew went to work for a bit and the kids actually got in the pool for a bit. The water was cold as we haven't had many warm days and the heater is broken, but they had a good time. I tried to organize all of our suits out in the pool house. I also am still trying to figure out what to use for to keep Miles and Bennett safe out there. I put Bennett in a puddle jumper and it worked for a while. He did fall down though and wasn't able to put his hands down and faceplanted. I used my dad's car to pick up Andrew's early Father's Day present-a new grill. Ours was never reliable and we had our small group barbecue coming up the next day. Wal-Mart had one with good reviews at a good price, plus you got a $20 gift card with it. So I had a couple Wal-Mart employees help me load it up and then I ran it over to our house. Andrew was supposed to be there working but he was at the office. So he came over and helped me unload it. I also ordered him his birthday present early (his birthday isn't until September). He has been wanting the Italian Rosetta Stone for a long time and Amazon had it as their deal of the day for a really good price. I planned on just putting it away until his birthday, but he opened the box it came in yesterday because he was looking for a tire pump valve we had ordered. I was pretty disappointed I didn't get to surprise him with that one.
Monday morning/afternoon was a rainy mess. It was cold, rainy, and windy. I just knew we were going to have to have the barbecue inside. At one point it wasn't raining but we had crazy strong winds. Our poor little cherry tree was blown at like a 60 degree angle. Jackson and I were able to stake it yesterday with a fence post Andrew had in the garage and some tree ties I had. The pirate ship is finally done though. It got blown up against the brush behind our house and just collapsed. The connectors and broken so there is not much we can do with it. I didn't realize Andy and Autumn were still in town, so Lissy brought Briley and Baylor and came by to surprise the Jackson, Ellie, and Lincoln. I thought she told me they were going to go get some McDonalds but then a little later I get a picture from my mom of Briley and Ellie. I guess they were also going to my parents house to play. So they had a fun afternoon and then Lissy brought them home later. Later in the afternoon the rain and wind stopped and the sun came out. So we had our little party outside. It was a mad rush to get everything ready to go. Andrew came home early and cleaned up the debris from the yard from all the wind we had. We told the kids to bring their rain boots because our yard was really wet. And we tried our hardest to keep them out of the house and just had them go around through the garage to use the bathroom. We got made fun of a bit for our restrictions but at least our house wasn't a complete disaster :-). It all worked out well though. It was an enjoyable night hanging out with some great friends. Miles and Bennett were little scavengers though and would go around most of the night taking food off of random plates that were left unattended. I think they did pretty well for themselves.

We have had a lot of rain and storms here lately and it continued yesterday and last night. Thankfully the kids were able to get outside and play some yesterday. Lissy came by before she left town and stayed with them so I could run my car to the dealership to have it looked at. It ended up needing new brake pads which weren't covered by the warranty. Oh well. At least that is taken care of before we make the trek down to Florida. We did learn that we can all fit in Andrew's truck if we need to. It wasn't the best way, but it worked. I had to go pick up my car after they were done with it, so we all loaded into Andrew's truck. The twins, Ellie, and Lincoln were in the back and Andrew, Jackson, and I were all up front. Then we went to my parents for dinner. Jackson was supposed to have a ball game in Lancaster that night and my mom said we could eat some of their leftovers for dinner, so I didn't have anything planned. So we still went over to my parents. Ellie is supposed to have a game tonight, but since we are under a flood warning I imagine it will be canceled too. I do hope the weather changes a bit so we can get some games in and some swim time too. Plus all this rain makes me anxious about how to entertain the kids. Let the summer begin :-)
