Field Trip & Dance Recital

Last week was kind of busy, but fun. On Tuesday Jackson had a practice baseball game. I was a little worried for them at first because the other team looked bigger, but they did a good job. It was fun to watch even though I didn't get to see much because I spent most of the time trying to reign in Lincoln. He discovered the opening to the field and really wanted to go in since Andrew and Jackson were both there. So I spent a good deal of time just holding him while he cried. Afterwards, Andrew said, "Sounded like you were having fun."

On Thursday I got to spend a day with Jackson and his class while they went on a field trip to Thousand Hills. They had two of the kindergarten classes together and I got to help by being a Troop Group leader. They have been doing a unit on different habitats and have been working together in their troop groups to prepare for this day. I had six kids that I got to lead through different activities with the help of another mom. It was an all day thing with lunch included and the kids had a great time. They were starting to wear down a little at the end since we were going all day. It was great getting to spend the day with Jackson too. He actually fell asleep on the bus on the way back to school because he was so tired.

This past week our butterflies also came out of their cocoons. The kids have had a lot of fun watching them and would open up their "cage" and let them walk across their hands. But we decided it was time to let them go Friday morning before Jackson went to school.

Then Friday night Ellie had her dress rehearsal for dance. She loved all of it and was so much fun to watch. We even stayed a little afterwards to watch some of the other dances. I think she could have stayed there all night.

Andrew took Jackson and Ellie out to the ranch on Saturday. He planned on taking both of them fishing but Ellie preferred to stay with Granny. Lincoln got to stay home and help me clean the bathrooms-lucky guy. But Jackson and Andrew were very successful with their fishing trip. I think they got close to 30 fish.

Ellie was so excited to get some flowers and a necklace for the recital. My parents actually ended up giving her the same necklace and she was excited to be able to share it with her doll, Sydney. After Ellie was done we went to Picklers with family to enjoy some ice cream. Ellie was all smiles all night.

Andrew was up and at them early Sunday morning. He had the yard mowed and the patio resealed by the time we went to church. Then later that afternoon we picked up some plants from Home Depot to replace some ones that died last year and got them replanted-now we may have to cover them since the cicadas should be showing up soon.


And our prayers go out to everyone affected by the tornado in Joplin. The amount of devastation is hard to grasp but God can definitely work in situations like this.
