Dallas or Bust

So this weekend we headed down to Dallas to meet the Bobzien twins. We actually left Kirksville Thursday after Jackson got out of school and headed to Kansas City to stay with Andy and Autumn and Lissy also met us there because she was going to ride down to Dallas with us. They made us a great dinner and the kids got to play a little bit. Then we were off to bed because we planned on leaving around 6:30 the next morning. We were a little late getting out and the trip didn’t improve much from that. It rained almost the whole way and we ran into a lot of construction. I think it took us an hour longer than it normally would have. Also, Lincoln is at the age where he screams a lot and he is LOUD. Poor Lissy tried to keep him entertained. Our first stop was at the McDonalds that goes over the road in Oklahoma. We were actually on a toll road and this was one place where you could pull off for gas without having to get off. Of course it was raining. Andrew filled up the car, while I changed Lincoln’s diaper and Lissy took Jackson and Ellie to the bathroom. Well the clerk told Lissy the bathrooms were, “outside and I don’t have a key and someone may be in them. Oh and if you have trouble flushing, just jiggle the handle a little.” So Lissy nixed that plan and decided to take them over to the McDonalds. So she got an umbrella and trekked over there with both kids stepping in puddles all the way. Andrew used the bathroom at the gas station and when he was done we drove over to the McDonalds. I got out to use the restroom and when I get to them the door to the men’s was open and Jackson is standing there barefoot drying his flip-flops with the hand dryer (and this McDonald’s was not clean at all). I tell him to get his shoes back on and wait for me and as I go into the women’s I can hear Lissy yelling at Jackson from a stall to wait on her and Ellie crying because her feet are wet. Oh the fun. So we finally got to Dallas around 4 and it was all worth it. Carolina and Colton are just too sweet and great little babies. So we got to visit with Amanda and Todd (and Caroline because she is there for the week helping out). I had made some chicken taquitos and brought them down in the cooler so we had those for dinner Friday night and just had a relaxing evening. Lincoln loved playing with all of Carson’s toys.
And after the rain stopped the kids got to play outside while the babies ate.
Saturday Lissy and I took Ellie and Carson to Home Goods (maybe not the best idea) while Lincoln and the babies napped and she got some props for the pictures. She just took a few pictures because she is going to be there for over a week and will have a lot of time later. But the pictures she did take were very cute and should be on her blog sometime in the next couple of days. Here is just one of them.

Andrew wondered what we were doing the whole time.
Then he sent me a picture he took with his phone.
And Ellie just loved the little twins.
Andrew got to spend some time on Saturday with some friends from college, Ben and Matt. Then later that night we went out to eat and Ben and his wife, Carrie, met up with us. After dinner we took the kids to the park. These two are just great buds. Then it was back to Amanda and Todd’s, baths, to the hotel and bed. We left around 6 this morning for the 12 hour trip back to Kirksville. We are pretty tired but are very happy we got to meet Colton and Carolina.
