Wow, what a weekend. It is 8:45 here and Ellie and Jackson are both in bed asleep. Andrew and I both want to head that way, but we are both trying to get some work done. Jackson ended up with a cold and went down hill quickly this evening-we'll have to see if he is any better tomorrow. We had a fun, eventful Halloween weekend. Friday was spent prepping for Halloween night and the party the next day. After getting Thomas and the silly monkey ready, we went trick-or-treating around our neighborhood for a little bit. Jackson said he had a "plan" to go with Kirsten, but she wasn't ready yet when we were heading out. It was a pretty quiet neighborhood with not many people home, but it was also just 5:30. So we headed over to my parents for some dinner and some more trick-or-treating with Carson. Carson and Ellie lasted just a few houses, but Andrew and I took Jackson to a few more. Later that evening, when everyone else had arrived, we had a suprise engagement party for Kaitlin and Zane. We brought up the decorations and desserts from the basement and set everything up in the dining room while they were in the family room and they never noticed. It was short but sweet. Then the party really got started. I don't have any pictures from it, but I think Ellie had a little too much candy. She was just plain hyper. Her and Briley ended up dancing on the table. Words can't even describe it- I think you really had to be there. The kids and I stayed the night while Andrew went home so he could head out to the ranch the next morning.
Saturday was spent spending time with the family and getting ready for the party. All the kids got dressed up again and we had some friends over. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. My mom made some fun mummy and coffin-shaped breads that she hollowed out and used as serving dishes for dips. I made some cookies, cupcakes, and cake pops that were fun to decorate. Autumn had a fun spooky punch. And we also had some fun decorations. Then there was a pinata and monster egg hunt for the kids. I think everyone had a good time. Ellie especially enjoyed the freedom to grab all the Hershey bars she could while no one was watching. We were never able to get a cute picture of all the kids together. We tried, but I don't think much was accomplished. They were a cute group though.
Everyone headed home today, which is sad. I think everyone is exhausted. The weather has been so nice. I hated to be inside, but we tried to rest a little this afternoon. This evening we put away the patio furniture-I can't believe it is November already. I think next week will be spent "winterizing" outside and starting preparations for Christmas.
Here are some pictures from the weekend-I'm too lazy to add captions right now though.
