Well this weekend was a very exciting weekend for our household. Jackson got to go see Thomas. It was a big surprise. He knew we were going to Kansas City but he thought we were just going to see Andy, Autumn, and Briley. What he didn't know was that we were heading straight to a train station in Baldwin City, KS to go to "A Day Out With Thomas." He has seen this advertised on Thomas DVDs and has wanted to go ever since. So we just kept driving and we stopped at Liberty to do a bath room break and that is when we told him that we had a surprise for him. He kept thinking it was going to be a toy. For the event, we had to park at the town's high school parking lot and take a shuttle bus to the station. It wasn't until we were waiting in line for the bus that he started to figure it out. He saw a sign advertising it and told me it was the "Day Out With Thomas" sign. So I explained it a little more on the bus and he was so excited. I have a couple videos of when we told him that he got to ride on Thomas and when he first saw Thomas. It was hard to capture the excitement on camera though. Jackson had a great time. He got to play with some trains, jump in a jumphouse, go down one of those blowup slides, get a Thomas tattoo, go on a train ride with Thomas, and then at the end he got to pick out a new Thomas track. Ellie on the other hand just hung out in the stroller.
After Thomas, we went to Andy and Autumn's. The kids got to play for a little while before we put Ellie down for a nap. Ellie was a little upset when I put her down, but then she quieted down. After a little while she started screaming so I finally checked on her and found she had a stinky diaper and she had gotten into the drawer on the computer desk and had thumb tacks all over her pack-n-play among other things. So after I changed her and Autumn cleaned up her mess-thanks Autumn- Andrew took both kids and they all slept. Then Autumn and Briley got to drive me around to do a little shopping. After we were done with that we all went to eat at Oklahoma Joe's. Then we went home and the kids got to play at the playground. They all had a fun time and we topped it off with a little ice cream. The next morning, Andy and Autumn made us all a great breakfast and then we headed home. So it was a great weekend. Thank you Andy and Autumn (and Briley and Viva) for taking care of us.
