Monday morning was warm and humid and I went out for a
run before needing to take Jackson and Ellie to basketball camps. My stomach
was bothering me pretty early in the run and the five mile run turned into a
four mile and then a three mile. When I got home, I felt horrible. I had never
felt that bad on a run before and I wasn’t sure why. And it stuck around
throughout the day. Andrew thought I was actually sick. I wasn’t sure. I just
know I felt nauseous, faint, tired and just a bit disoriented. Andrew ended up
picking up the campers and I finally made lunch for the younger ones around 2.
Not much else was accomplished that day. I did make pancakes for dinner before
we had to head out to the twins’ ballgame around 5. I totally forgot about
Ellie and Lincoln’s last soccer practice, so I had to leave the twins game
early to take them home to get their cleats and shin guards while Andrew and
Jackson stayed with the twins. After I got them dropped off at practice, I came
home and laid down the rest of the evening. The kids seemed to have a good day
though. They wanted to go swimming, but I wasn’t up to it. They spent a lot of
time building all sorts of things with the Magformers. And Ellie spent almost
the whole day out with her friends.
I was still feeling a little off Tuesday morning, so I
couldn’t even consider working out. We got the older two to their basketball
camps (Jackson at Truman and Ellie at the Primary), went to Wal-Mart and got
some pool treats, put them away in the pool house and then went by the bank. We
picked up Ellie and her friend Ella from basketball, had lunch and then picked
up Jackson before heading to my parents. Leah’s mom brought Leah’s kids, their
two cousins and Gage. Leah came by a little later. It was a beautiful afternoon
and the kids had a lot of fun. But then we had to head home to get ready for
games. I ordered pizza so we could eat it early before I had to get Ellie to
her 5:30 game at 5. Andrew brought the boys around game time and Mary came to
watch too. Ellie started out pitching and then was catcher the second inning.
She also got a double. Andrew had to leave to take Jackson to his game in
Brashear and Lincoln had a game at 6:15. Lincoln went with Alex to his field
and then I made my way over there with the twins a little later while Mary
stayed for the rest of Ellie’s game. I got to see Lincoln get a couple good
hits and then ended up playing one more inning than they usually do, so I
didn’t think we would be able to make it to much of Jackson’s game. But then I
found out Jackson’s game started ½ hour late, so we headed that way after we
were done with Lincoln’s and got there around 8:15. We got to watch several
innings of the game and see Jackson make a great catch at 2nd. It got to around 9:40 and I decided I should take the other kids home to do baths and get ready for bed. Andrew and Jackson got home a little after 10.
Wednesday morning I swam laps for the first time in a
month. Then it was home to take Jackson and Ellie to basketball. We picked up
Ellie later that morning from camp and she came out with a pair of Captain
America Under Armour socks she got being camper of the day. Then we went to
Aldi and I let them convince me to get a baseball slip-n-slide. I continued my
nice mom streak by picking them up McDonalds for lunch. Andrew picked up
Jackson a little later and he was excited I picked up some food for him at
McDonalds too. Although it had cooled down by the time he got home and he tried
to warm up his sandwich by sitting it by a candle I had lit. The kids were
excited to get the slip-n-slide out and Alex and Josh joined them. They had a
lot of fun with it for a couple hours before coming back in to work with their
Magformers. Their biggest creation was what they called the Lookout (from Paw
Patrol) and they first created it on Monday when I wasn’t feeling good and they
wanted to make something for me. But then they kept adding to it and playing
with it.
While they played, I made some cookies and cooked an
early dinner to take out to the Heeren’s after Matt’s hip replacement. I
dropped that off around 4:30, came home and reheated our dinner and then we all
went to the last soccer event of the season-an ice cream social and parent vs.
kids game. It was hard to get the kids going though because this is what they looked like when I got home from dropping off the dinner.
I was going to play against Ellie while Andrew went against Lincoln
and then maybe swap out. Ellie’s age group just had a couple dads playing
defense and the rest was just kids, so I went over to Lincoln’s and it looked
like Andrew was having too much fun to swap out with him. I guess he took out
several kids a few times 😊. It was a beautiful night and a great end to
the season. And then once we got home, Jackson challenged us to some races and
I was sad to find out that my kids are faster than me. They had fun though.
Then I remembered at about 9pm I still needed to run to Wal-Mart.
Jackson and Ellie had their last day of basketball camp
on Thursday. Ellie ended up getting Most Improved Player for the 5th/6th
grade.
We finally headed over to my parents around 1:30 but had
to make a pit stop to drop off Jackson’s phone to get it worked on and to the
library for Ellie to drop off some books. The swimming didn’t last too long
since the water was cooler. So we headed back home so I could get dinner made
before Jackson had to go to small group and we had to leave to LaPlata for
Lincoln’s ballgame. A couple of the coaches were out of town, so Andrew got to
step in and pitch since we only had one game that night. The kids got some good
hits off of him 😊. And Lincoln got to step into the catcher’s
roll which is thinks is kind of fun for now.
That night, I went up to put the kids to bed and found
all of them except Jackson in Ellie’s room. She said they were helping her sort
all of her rainbow loom bands and they all planned to sleep in there while she
made them bracelets. So, I let it be and found them like this the next morning.
After a run (my runs have been frustrating lately as I
can’t seem to keep my pace up) we enjoyed the fact that we didn’t have to be
anywhere. I still felt like I had a lot to do though. I let the boys watch some
tv while I got ready and then put the hammer down…turn off the tv, chores,
clean their rooms, etc. I have grand plans for more structured mornings with
some chores, bible study time and a little school work along with some fun
activities scattered in, but it hasn’t happened yet. The twins and Lincoln do spend quite a bit of
time having “Beyblade battles” with their homemade Lego beyblades. I guess I
should have kept all of Jackson’s.
That evening Jackson and Ellie had ballgames. I got
dinner done before Andrew had to take Jackson and then we got there when the
game started at 5:30. He played well but was frustrated that he didn’t get a
hit. They had a pretty fast pitcher and he is still so young for this age
group. Ellie’s game ended up starting a ½ hour late since the ump didn’t show
up. Plus they ended up doing 3 ½ innings and finally called it because it was
getting too dark. Ellie did a great job but was frustrated with the one inning
she got to pitch. She did fine, especially for not getting to warm up.
Saturday morning, Andrew and I were going to go for a
bike ride, but he decided it would probably be best if he went out to check the
cows before it got too hot. So, I went for a ride on 3 while he and the kids
went out to the ranch. There was a decent wind from the south, so the ride
south on 3 wasn’t too much fun, but the tailwind on the way back made up for
it. When I got home, it was time to cook and clean since we were having the
K-Life leaders, Laura and Wade, over for lunch. It went well and it was nice to
get to know them a little better. And Ellie did a great job of clearing the
table and getting everyone dessert. Then after we finished up and they left, I
started cleaning and Andrew went to the office. Ellie was bored and called to
see when my parents would be home and was excited to have Lissy answer. She
begged Lissy to come get her, which she did. My parents got home a little
afterwards and brought Briley with them. Jackson headed out on his bike with Gage and they went downtown, then to McDonalds and then I got a picture from Andrew of them leaving the office. He said they stopped by for a drink.
The rest of us headed over there later
that evening and let the kids swim in the evening. Sunday, Andrew got his bike
ride in and then we went to church. My dad stopped by before to borrow a dress
for Briley and he brought us donuts. When we got home from church, I washed
some sheet and cleaned some bathrooms while the kids cleaned their rooms and
Andrew cleaned out his truck. Molly stopped by with Briley and ended up taking
Ellie and Lincoln to my parents’ house and we showed up later. It was a hot
day, so the kids swam for a while and we had dinner over there before heading
home that night. Lissy finally took Lincoln up on his offer to spend the night,
so she came later and brought them Dairy Queen. Even though it had been a hot
day, the evening was nice, so I worked around the yard a bit and Andrew worked
with the boys on their hitting. Then they enjoyed their ice cream before we got
them set up in the basement with a movie. I don’t think it was the best night
and people moved around a little. Ellie ended up in her bed and Lincoln ended
up with me, Lissy started on the couch and ended up on the daybed in the basement.
She said never again 😊.
