Last Monday we spent time at home and I worked on trying
to get caught up on some stuff. The kids played with friends, built Legos and
played Candyland. Ellie had a game in Brashear that night and the twins had one
at home, so I took Ellie and Lincoln and Andrew had the twins and Jackson. The
team Ellie played against had a really good pitcher, so her team struggled a
bit. Ellie only got up to bat once and she got a hit but got out at first. Then
they brought her in to pitch and she just didn’t have it that night. She never
really practices, so she can’t be too upset about it. But we got back around 8
that night, around the same time as Andrew and the twins. We went out back and
played some basketball. I lowered the hoop for the twins and they had fun
trying to dribble and shoot and then they would pass it to me, run to the
basket and I would pass it back for them to shoot. But with the sun going down
so late, it was another late night.
Tuesday morning I went for a bike ride and that afternoon
we went swimming. What started out as just a small group going, turned into a
little bigger. We had brought Buddy, but he was too excited with all the kids
and would accidentally scratch them as he swam close. So, we had to tie him and
all we had was an extension cord.
We got done swimming around 4:30 and I dropped Jackson
off at Andrew’s office so he could take him to weights at 5. Then I took Ellie,
Faith and Grace with me to work the K-Life fireworks tent. I ordered some pizza
to be delivered around 6, when Andrew would show up with the boys after picking
up Jackson. We ended up having a pretty full tent as Leah came by with Alex and
Kate and Gage had his mom drop him off. It was the first official night for the
tent to be open and we had a few sales. We were there until nine but Andrew
took the younger boys and Ellie home early. Then the rest of us came home later
that night. The kids were anxious to do their smoke bombs when we got home, so
they did that out in the back yard and then we called it a night.
Wednesday morning I swam laps and decided midswim to go
to the store after I was done instead of going home first. I checked on the
kids twice to make sure they were getting up and getting their chores done. We
had a no electronics day (including tv), so they all had a few more chores,
played outside, played Memory match and Legos and then we went swimming for a little bit
before coming home to eat dinner and get to Jackson’s game.
It was a hot one
and we played a team that had really beat up on us before. Jackson’s team did
have a great inning where they ended up tying the score, but then they lost it
when their pitcher had trouble the next inning. Jackson’s swing is looking
better and he had a good hit but got out at first. We did notice that a lot of
the older guys like to use his bat though. And since the game was earlier, we
were home by 8 and the kids got to help the LaBeths shoot off some fireworks.
Andrew cleaned my bike and worked on it a bit and then when I went on a ride up
the street to try it out, I stopped and talked to the Mareks and ended up
talking to Sharon until about 10.
Thursday we stayed around home. I thought about taking
the kids to see Cars 3, but then Ty invited them over to play on their water
slide. I worked on stuff at home. Since Lincoln’s birthday, kamp and vacation
are all around the same time, I started working on stuff for those, like kamp
packages, Lincoln’s birthday at kamp and Lincoln’s birthday parties at home. We
decided to have his friend party at a local place called Rising Son Karate and
he is so excited. It is also great for me because I really don’t have to do
anything except a cake and some party favors. And I’m able to use a lot of his
decorations from his last ninja party for his family party. I also worked on a
little get-together that we decided to do for Leah’s 40th the next
week. I went through decorations and decided some of Ellie’s from her last
birthday would be great. Then the boys
helped me run food over to the church for their kids’ camp the next day. Since
it was going to be an all day thing, they were providing lunch. I signed up to
bring 5 bags of cuties and the turkey and ham for the sandwiches. I didn’t
think about it until I went to purchase it and carry it, but it was over 20
pounds of meat 😊.
That evening we had Lincoln’s ballgame-one of his last
ones. Then afterwards, I ran by Rising Son and dropped off the check for
Lincoln’s party. Then Friday morning we dropped Ellie and Lincoln off at the
church for the Crossing Day Camp after I got a run in. They had a whole day of fun for planned for
them. The twins joined me doing the 30 Day Shred. And then they spent some time drawing in their notebooks. They like to do architecture :-).
After running some errands, the rest of us went to my parents’ house and
they swam for a little bit. It was a little cooler out though, so the swimming
didn’t last quite as long. Jackson was supposed to have a game that night, but
it ended up being canceled. So we got to enjoy the evening at home just playing
around. I also ended up having to do some office work so that I could get to
the bank the next day. And Ellie's teacher dropped off her gecko, Bindi, for Ellie to watch for a few days. Ellie loves the opportunity to do it.
Ellie spent most of the evening with Kiersten and Sharon let them tie dye shirts. Then they went to the lake by our neighborhood and Ellie fell on some rocks and came home with blood running down her legs. She started cleaning it up and handled it all pretty well until I told her we needed to put some Neopsorin on the scrapes. It all actually ended up fine and her injury hasn't slowed her down too much.
Andrew took the kids out to the ranch Saturday morning
and they actually had to wear jackets. They hung out with Granny, rode some four-wheelers and ended up helping Matthew move some of his cattle.
I cleaned up stuff around the house and
then went for a bike ride out to the lake. When the kids got home, we went over
to my parents where Bella, Brady and Charlotte were anxiously awaiting the kids
getting there. They came into town late Friday night with Lissy for a quick
visit. Again, it was a little cooler and a decent breeze, so the kids swam for
a little bit but didn’t last too long. Lissy had a shoot with the Heerens that evening
and she took Ellie and Bella as her helpers. The rest of us headed to the YMCA
playground and we had it all to ourselves most of the time. At one point, a
couple older ladies came over and sat on the teeter totter and chatted for a
bit. But the kids had fun running off some energy. Jackson had gone home with Andrew
after dinner and they ended up going on a bike ride together. They rode uptown
and on Kirksville’s “cobbles” and stopped by TruYo for some frozen yogurt.
So, then we decided to stop by after we got done at the
playground and Lissy, Ellie and Bella met us there. Then I went home while the
rest went back to my parents for a sleepover. Andrew picked them up the next
morning before we had to head to church. Then we went back to my parents for
lunch and to hang out a bit before the St. Louis crew headed home. It was a
beautiful day out, but too cool to swim, so I tried to force the kids to get
outside and play. When they were hesitant, I gave them all chores and then sent
them outside. Andrew took them to the batting cages later that afternoon and
then met up with me at Hibbett’s. I had a good coupon that was expiring that
day and Jackson needed new football cleats, so it all worked out. That evening,
I joined some girls to celebrate Leah’s upcoming 40th birthday at La
Fuente while Andrew grilled steaks for the rest of the family. I cut up some
fruit earlier for them to have with it and left Ellie in charge of baking some
rolls. When we got back from dinner, Andrew and the kids got back soon after
from a bike ride that was a little longer than their usual one. We tried to do
a little earlier bedtime since the three oldest were starting soccer camp the
next morning, but it was still after 9:30 before we got anywhere close.
