Our week didn’t really start out the way we would have
liked. Andrew received a couple pieces of mail that looked like credit card offers
that I would usually throw away but decided to open up. I am glad I did because
they were actual credit cards and upon calling the companies we discovered that
they were fraudulently opened in Andrew’s name with his SSN and birth date. Thankfully,
Andrew came home around the time I started making phone calls so that he could
authorize for me to talk to one company and he got on the phone with the other
one followed by a call to one of the credit bureaus to put an alert out with
all the credit bureaus. I spent the rest of the afternoon working on all of
that stuff and never got around to getting dinner started so we just ordered
pizza. Then it was off to Ellie’s tumbling class and it was Parent Watch Week
so I got to watch her perform her routine a few times. But first she had to show us her moves at home-doesn't everyone hang out in the kitchen like this?
The rest of our week was pretty calm. We got the good news
that both of our candidates for the K-Life accepted their positions which was
exciting. I’m anxious to see what the new year brings. Ellie had gymnastics at
Macon and Lincoln had his last basketball practice Tuesday night. I was able to
take Lincoln to practice but then had to go to a TriFAHL seminar so Andrew
picked him up. There were three of us at the seminar who were supposed to talk
about our past experience with TriFAHL and if we had any advice. The poor girl
in charge still didn’t get the word out that much about the seminar so there
was only one other person there. We discussed everything though and the
coordinator took notes to put on the Facebook page. Wednesday night we finished up our
Apologetics series at bible study. We almost had to kick Joe and John out
afterwards because they wanted to keep discussing. Andrew got a few last rides
on his bike in at the beginning of the week because we went to Columbia on
Thursday to trade it in. We took along my bike too to get a tune up. Andrew had
a great opportunity to get an awesome bike. It was a used bike that actually
belonged to the owner of the shop. He told Andrew he would let him trade in his
old bike for almost what he paid for it last year as part of the cost. The
owner was out of town when we stopped by but the other guys at the shop were
very helpful. The main guy that helped us actually went to school at Truman and
was dating a girl from Kirksville. Andrew had another bike he was interested in
too so he took both of them out for test rides while the twins and I hung out
at the shop. They had a tricycle there that they would take turns riding until
one of the staff offered to get another tricycle down for them. He warned them
it was pink but it was still cool J.
So they entertained themselves riding all around the shop and the staff didn’t
seem bothered at all.
When Andrew got back he decided the used bike was the one
he wanted. I was so excited for him to get this bike because it was such a
great one. So his fitting was up next, they changed out his pedals and some of
his gear on his old bike, paid and were out of there. We decided to just drive
through Panera on our way out of town for Andrew and I and give the twins some snacks
to tide them over until we got home and could get them lunch.
When we got home Andrew went out to the ranch to do a bit
a work and got home just in time to take his bike out for a quick 30 minute
ride just to try it out and he loved it. When he got home, Ellie and I went to
her dance class. Again, it was Parent Watch Day, so I was there for 1 ½ hours
watching her jazz, tap and ballet. The theme of the recital is going to be
Dancing Through the Year with different holiday/seasonal dances. Ellie’s jazz
routine is a Halloween one and they do some of the fun dance moves from Thriller. She also has her second jazz
routine that will be the finale (New Years) that is to Celebration. Her tap song is Here
Comes Santa Claus which will be funny to see that time of year. And her
ballet is to Give Thanks and it will
be around Thanksgiving. We decided to skip her last basketball practice since
she was already so late and I just took her home.
Then I was off to Maxwell’s
to meet up with the girls from our small group to celebrate Leslie getting her
residency here. They put us back in our own little room and it was very nice. I
ended up just ordering a cheeseburger but I really liked it and the
conversation was great-just a great evening all together.
Andrew got another ride in Friday and we ended up
watching Kung Fu Panda after dinner
that night. Andrew and Jackson went out to the ranch to put out hay Saturday
morning while the other kids and I went to Ellie’s last game. She had a great last game. She hustled, was aggressive and kept a good
attitude. It always inspires her to keep practicing and she was out back
shooting baskets when we got home from her game. Andrew and Jackson had just
gotten home before we did so we all ate lunch and soon it was time to go
Lincoln’s last game. He always cracks me
up with his intensity. He was guarding a girl who could care less and he would
just stare her down and didn’t let her go anywhere.
Andrew’s parents came to our house after the game and
took the kids with them out to their house to play. We had some beautiful
weather so Andrew and I took advantage of it and went out for a ride. It was a
tad windy though which made things a little challenging. We went out to the
lake and did a couple of the hard hills. The lake was crazy busy-people and
cars everywhere. But it was a good ride and it is always nice to go with
Andrew. Like he said, we consider it a date J.
When we got home, we both enjoyed our cup of chocolate milk, looked over our
stats from our ride and Andrew marveled at the two Queen of the Mountains I
got. They aren’t too hard to get since there are hardly any other female riders
in Kirksville on Strava. Andrew went to pick up the kids while I took a shower,
finished up laundry and worked on a design for Jackson’s 3on3 team shirts. The
kids had fun out at the ranch riding the four wheeler, picking up mineral tubs
(they got money for doing that J)
and Jackson worked with Buddy on learning how to round up calves. I was late
getting dinner started so we ate later than usual. We decided to have another
movie/dinner night and turned on Cool
Runnings while we ate. The twins really wanted to sleep with me and even
faked belly aches hoping they could. I let them put their sleeping bags on the
floor in our room but it took a while for them to settle down.
Sunday was another beautiful day albeit pretty windy. We
went to church, I did some grocery shopping and then we met up at my parents’
house to help move some furniture. My dad and Andrew moved some chairs and the
coffee table back into my parents’ family room (which looks awesome with the
new ceiling) while Jackson helped my mom, Molly and I move a bed around in a
room. When we got home I got busy putting away groceries, cleaning up, doing
laundry and prepping stuff for dinner that night. The kids went outside and
play outside most of the day. Andrew had Jackson and Ellie do some jogging around
the block. Ellie convinced her friends to go along with her and then they did
some biking too. Lincoln and his friend raided the dead tree that fell in our
back yard for sticks.
Andrew wasn’t quite sure what to do so I asked him if he
could clean out the garage. I was just thinking sweep it out a bit but he went
all out. He took everything out and sprayed it all out. It was great! Then he
went to work on his bike while I reorganized some things in the garage. My
parents and Molly came over for dinner later that evening. Andrew grilled some
delicious steaks while I made some green beans, baked potatoes, rolls and yummy
fruit. It was a great dinner and a great way to end the weekend.
