So summer is officially over for us now. We still get out in the evenings and weekend for the kids to play with their friends though. Ellie had face plant scooter accident soon after this, but she is ready to get back on the electric scooter.
Lincoln thinks he is great friends with Ty. He gets very excited when he sees him. I don't know if Ty always feels the same way :-)
On the last Sunday before school, Ellie got to go to her school and meet her teacher and see her new room.
And then on Monday, Leah and I took the boys to Columbia for their special day. In between some shopping for us, we took the to eat at Steak-n-Shake and to play at Chuck E Cheese. They were so determined to earn a lot of tickets to get some junk that has now been discarded. But they had fun doing it.
Then almost as soon as they got home, they got to go the Back to School Bash at church and Andrew and I headed to a K-Life board meeting. Then on Tuesday, Jackson had his sneak-a-peek at his school and got to meet his teacher and look at his room too. He kept saying, "So when are we going to go see my cousin?" That is because his teacher is Mrs. Eitel-Lori Ann Eitel who is actually my cousin. I was so happy Jackson got to be in her class this year because I have heard she is a great teacher and I know she can handle boys.
Then Tuesday night we had our back-to-school dinner.
Our theme this year is "Let us think about each other and help each other to show love and do good deeds." Hebrews 10:24. I really to work on the self-centeredness this year and encourage the kids to think about and help other people. So here is to a good year.
Molly got her own crown too since she is still in school-a big freshman at Truman. She was actually a year younger than Ellie when I headed off to Truman.
After dinner we headed outside to play and Ellie painted everyone's nails. She loved it. She has painted her nails with Addi and Gracie several times since.
Then on Wednesday the kids had their first day of school. I decided to bring out the chalk board to record what grade they are in. I hope to keep this a yearly tradition
Lincoln thought he needed a picture too and stood up beside the chalkboard and said "Cheese!"
Lincoln didn't make that last picture because he was too busy driving off in his tractor. I tried several times to get him to drive it home, but he wouldn't listen to me. So I finally had to chase him down and carry him home. I sure it was entertaining to watch the pregnant girl taking off running across several yards. I had to send Jackson back to bring the tractor home. And just as I got Lincoln put into the car, Andrew shows up-thanks for the help :-)
Ellie had a great first day of school-she loves her new teacher and she is pretty excited to she gets to play on the big playground this year. She got to help me make some cookies in the afternoon for our after school treat. Jackson had a good day too. He really enjoys his teacher. I think it is going to be a great year.
Then on Friday we had another big day. Andrew and I headed down to Moberly to have our ultrasound done of the twins and we found out we are having twin boys! Again, I am in shock. We both were excited, but also felt bad for Ellie who is dying to have a sister. She was hoping it was two girls. I still feel bad for her. She is getting better about it, but she used to get upset when we would start talking about her new brothers. The boys were very active and appeared to be very healthy. I guess we'll find out more at my next OB appointment when my doctor has the radiology report. The whole thing took 2 hours since they had to get all the measurements on both babies, so I was pretty sore after laying on the table that long. We did take a litte 5 minute break in between babies which was good. So now Andrew and I have been throwing around names. We always have such a hard time with boy names. We think we may have some figured out, but we are going to wait just a bit. But for now it is time to start getting stuff ready. I have been able to find a second bumper pad and dust ruffle on ebay that matches what we already have. I was pretty amazed to find it because we have used the same set for each kid so the style is 7 years old. I still like all of it, so that is what we are sticking with. And my mom is trying to push me to get my Christmas shopping done. So that is something else I need to work on even though it is still 4 months away.
