Let's Go To The Beach

I haven't blogged lately because I haven't had any new pictures. We have just been putting up with the rain and its effects. We finally got the mud out of our street yesterday, so the kids were able to play outside. They put in the main posts for our pergola yesterday and are pouring the first section of concrete today. They have to do it in three parts and today was the first day it was dry enough to get the truck in the backyard. There is rain in the forecast the next couple of days and of course Friday is a holiday, so we may not see a finished product until we get home from vacation. So off to vacation we'll go and try to put all of our frustrations behind us. I guess we can't expect getting a lot done since this has been the wettest December-June on record.

Jackson and I have had an ongoing entertaining conversation. Our neighbor is Vietnamese (I think) and she has a parrot, Wilbur. She was showing Wilbur to Jackson and Addie a couple weeks ago and Jackson came back saying that he and Addie say she talks crazy. I just blew it off at that point but then the other day she was talking to Andrew and I and Jackson came up and said, "I told you Mommy, she talks crazy." Luckily, she couldn't hear him. I explained to him later that she was from a different country and was used to speaking a different language. I just used China as the example and he said, "That's where toys are made." I don't know where he got that useful bit of information. But then I showed him a map and where we are and the language we speak and where different countries are and their languages. I think he kind of understands and hopefully will quit saying she talks "crazy."

To start our vacation we will be going here. . .

We get to celebrate 4th of July at the Cardinals-Cubs game and then we head out the next morning to make the drive down to here. . .

Ahhhhhh!
We are starting to organize the packing, finishing shopping, getting food ready, doing laundry. . . all the fun stuff to prep for vacation. This afternoon my mom and I are getting pedicures- a very rare occurrence for us. Then Jackson has his last t-ball game tonight. It is a makeup game from last week. So this is probably the last post before we head out.
