If you haven't heard in the news, we have gotten a lot of rain lately. It started raining Wednesday and didn't end until Friday morning. We got somewhere between 12 and 13 inches. It was great. As you can imagine, our front yard ended up in the street (just being a little sarcastic with my frustration). I called Andy to see if they could come scoop it up even though it was still very wet and I am so thankful they did. He said they were taking bets on whether or not I would call them. I told them this was definitely not something me and my handy shovel could handle. They also finished up the main structure of our pergola before the rain came. It looks great. We have had a wonderful time admiring it from inside. They planned on coming this evening to finish it up by putting up some trim pieces, but guess what, it rained again last night and this morning and we are supposed to get more rain tomorrow. I have to say that we are very lucky though because I know a lot of people ended up with water in their houses. The med school's new building had a window break because of the water pressure and it flooded their new library. Andrew's parents ended up with water in their mud room. Andrew always worried about whether our basement would flood-I think it passed the test. Here are some pics of Andrew and the kids enjoying our new pergola from inside and the next one is from Thursday night during one of the thunderstorms. I was able to get a picture during a flash of lightning.

Andrew had to go to a CLE down at the Lake of the Ozarks for a couple days. He left early Friday morning but had to take detours through town because of stranded cars and intersections that were flooded. He got out before the closed a section of Hwy 63 though. He had to stay overnight Friday and came back Saturday afternoon. Since he was gone, we had a slumber party Friday night. Lissy and Caroline joined the fun. We took all the mattresses off the beds upstairs and put them in the bonus room and they had fun racing on them. Here are some pics and a fun video from it. . .

Then we headed to the basement to try sliding down the stairs in Jackson's sleeping bag. But then Jackson had the great idea to go down in his tent. Then Jackson, Caroline, and Ellie went down in it together. I have a video of it that we all thought was hilarious-I don't know, maybe you had to be there. After that we played a little Hullabaloo and then it was bedtime. Ellie and I got to sleep in our own beds, but Lissy and Caroline were lucky enough to get to sleep with Jackson on the mattresses in the bonus room. I think they all slept well though. The next day, we had my parents and Kaitlin over for some coffee cake and then we spent the day at the pool.

Here is one last picture that Lissy took- I guess Ellie was pretty thirsty.
