The twins and I got out early Tuesday morning so they could play before it got to hot and I worked on fixing our outdoor curtains as some of the hooks had come off. It was really a pleasant morning out.
Andrew is still picking the kids up from school. Ellie practically comes in doing cartwheels or hand stands. She really misses not being able to randomly do her tumbling while she is at school. She said she did do a couple back bends while her teacher was occupied with another student :-). This past week she has really worked on her back walkover and front walkover and they look great. The neighborhood kids spent a lot of the afternoon looking for a stray dog that has been roaming the neighborhood. Jackson will now sometimes take a walkie talkie so I can get a hold of him if I need him. It actually is pretty helpful. Tuesday night Andrew and I watched Only You because most of it was filmed in Rome and Positano. One part of the movie had the two girls driving from Rome to Positano and it was pretty entertaining to think about what our drive will be like. After the movie, I went up to check on the twins and found them both asleep under their beds and Miles had his diaper off. So I got them back to bed and they went right back to sleep.
Wednesday I worked on putting several coats of the top coat on our desktops and gluing felt to the bottom of the baskets for the cubbies. I kept trying to get to the store but it always looked like rain was just about to hit us. So after Lincoln got home and we finished up lunch, I decided I would go to the store then. Lincoln's new friend, Josh, had invited him over to play, so I was going to drop him off there (they are just down the street, but far enough down that they haven't really played together) and take the twins to do the grocery shopping. Well then the rain came. So we drove him to the house and came back to work on some more stuff. Carson's birthday was coming up on Friday and they were coming back for Finley's birthday party. So my mom and I decided to surprise him with a little party when they got into town late Friday night. He is into Beyblades now so I got out the decorations from Jackson's Beyblade party a couple years ago, redesigned a few of the decorations with Carson's name and assembled them. I always wonder if I should just throw out their old birthday stuff but then I randomly use some of it.
Lincoln loved his "play date" with Josh. They were both already asking to play together later that day :-). I am sure as they get a little older, it will be easier for them to go back and forth to each other's houses. And I think Josh would have a lot of fun with the other boys in the neighborhood. Lincoln has also made a new friend at school, Benson. Benson's mom was a little worried that Lincoln may get annoyed with him but he loves playing with him too.
Wednesday evening, Andrew offered to watch the kids so I could go for a bike ride. I almost didn't do it because I was just tired after staying up later to watch the movie the night before. Plus I had already run that morning, but I am glad I did it. I got dinner all ready to go and he fed them and cleaned up most of it while I was gone. Then I grabbed some dinner and ate outside while we watched the kids play. While I was finishing up dinner earlier in the evening, Andrew lifted some weights and I guess Ellie wanted to learn how to do it too.
That night I went to check on the twins again and this time they didn't hear me come in. I just couldn't get made at them this time and I just sat and watched for a bit. They were both laying on their pillows on the floor in between their beds looking at a Thomas book together. It was like they were discussing it with each other-pointing at different parts in the book and talking to each other in their "language". It was so sweet. But then it was time to get back in bed and go to sleep.
The twins and I did our grocery shopping Thursday morning. When we got home, their Halloween outfits were in the mail so of course we had to try them on. They are going to be Maverick and Goose.
Then after Lincoln got home and we ate lunch, we headed outside. I cleaned out the garage and the car while they played. Just as I was finishing up, it started raining. There was no thunder or lightening, so I told the boys they could go out and play in it. They had so much fun running back and forth. They tried to protect themselves with random things from the garage but it didn't help much.
After they were done, it was time for a change of clothes and nap time for the twins. I finished up my last top coat on our desktops. About an hour later I heard a loud noise downstairs and went down to find that one of the sawhorses had collapsed. Thankfully the desktops were okay, but I owe my dad a new sawhorse.
Jackson and Ellie had their first Little K of the year Thursday afternoon. Then we had to drop Jackson off at football practice. Later that evening, Lincoln and I went to his soccer Meet The Coach only to pull up as Joe was walking back to his car and he stopped us to tell us he was Lincoln's coach and gave us our schedule. We didn't even have to get out of the car. Jackson and Ellie aren't playing this year. Jackson decided to just stick to football and swimming. We'll see if he wants to go back to soccer another time. And as I mentioned, Ellie wanted to start swimming this fall and with all of her dance classes, soccer was just going to be too much.
Friday morning showed the kids were tired after their first full week of school. Jackson and Ellie still did pretty well getting up to their alarms though. I did some of my major weekly cleaning in the morning and then got on the treadmill. Alex was at our house a little before 8 so this was the view from my treadmill.
They had a good morning playing though. They played what they called "Cowboy Power Rangers" and also spent quite a bit of time with Lincoln's Legos. It all ended when they were playing in the dark basement with flash lights with the twins and Alex jumped off a bed and bit his tongue. He decided he wanted to go home and see his mom. It rained later that afternoon but cleared off in time for Jackson's football game. I am glad I remembered a towel though to dry off the bleachers that were still wet. I tried to take some pictures but wasn't too successful.
After the game we went to my parents for dinner and some swimming. All of my siblings except Caroline were coming in town for Finley's first birthday party and the holiday weekend. Friday was actually Carson's birthday so we decided to surprise him with a little party when he got in that night. They didn't get in until close to 11 but the kids were still excited to surprise him.
The rest of the weekend was spent doing a lot of swimming. Jackson went with Andrew to the ranch Saturday morning but then they came to the pool afterwards to cool off. The twins are really loving the pool now and have even learned to jump off the side. Big progress since the beginning of the summer. They stayed in the pool almost all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon. And Saturday night we had Finley's birthday party. Autumn did an Up theme and it was super cute. They finished up the evening by watching Up on the side of the pool house with some popcorn. So it was a great weekend-the kids had a lot of fun swimming, playing together and climbing trees. I enjoyed getting to visit with my family.
Monday was Labor Day so the kids didn't have school. Andrew's office was also closed but he did work for a while. It was also our 13th anniversary! We didn't really do much though. I gave Andrew a combination anniversary and birthday gift since we are going to be gone on his birthday. I gave him a couple books to read on our trip and a Garmin watch like mine. I spent most of the day trying to get stuff ready for our trip and did some work for the office while Andrew worked some at the office and got to go on a good bike ride. So there was not much celebrating going on but we will make up for that next week. I meant to at least get a picture of us together, but I guess that didn't happen. Happy Anniversary Andrew-thank you for being the "love of my life"!
