Our week was a little bit more low key this past week, which was nice. For the kids' chore on Monday, I had them help me scrub the front porch. We had to clean off the dirt and cobwebs and the weather was a little cooler, so it was a good time to do it. But Granny came to their rescue and took them on a little outing to Wal-Mart and Mcdonalds, so I finished it up for them along with trimming some of the plants, weeding and watering. The kids were very thankful that I was done when they got home and they got to enjoy playing with the new toys Granny got for them. Monday night I attended a women's bible study we are doing with some of the girls from my small group. We had a speaker to watch on DVD, but after discovering the DVD didn't work and that we could watch it on You Tube, but couldn't get a computer hooked up correctly to a TV, we gave up and went to get ice cream. We all promised to watch the video on our own and do the homework that goes along with it and meet up again this Monday. Even though it is sometimes hard to put the time in for something like this (it should actually be the first thing I do) I know it will be good for me.
Tuesday we finally made it to the library again and then went swimming. We also dropped off some toys at Salvation Army that were part of the last week's "Think of Other's Thursday". The kids were supposed to go through their toys and pick out a few toys to give to other kids. This past week's Thursday wasn't very successful though. They were supposed to be thinking about their siblings and what nice things they could do for them. Besides a few small things, not much was done. I guess we need to work harder on that one.
We finally got some rain Friday which was great. Friday night we took the kids to the local Broadway in the Park, which was Songs of Disney at the amphitheater. It ended up only being around 45 minutes long which was perfect for the kids. They even sang "It's a Small World" which Jackson was so excited about :-). And the weather had cooled down quite a bit, so it was only in the mid-70's which was awesome.
And then Andrew took the three oldest out to the ranch on Saturday while I had the pleasure of cleaning the bathrooms and the rest of the house. I also have been working on some stuff for some parties/celebrations we have coming up in the next couple of months. Saturday night, we drove by the football stadium to see what they had done so far with the renovations. The field is still torn up, but the bleachers look nice. After that, we went by Dairy Queen to use up our last coupon for dinner and dessert, which the kids were excited about.
Today was a pretty normal Sunday. Andrew started out his morning by going on a 20 mile bike ride with our new neighbor who moved into Mike and Tiffany's house. He has been biking for quite a while now, so I think he pushed Andrew to go a little harder. Andrew is still really enjoying it though. After church, Andrew took oldest out to the ranch again to take care of some new bulls he got. I was able to get a lot done around the house and these guys enjoyed playing around. The jumper (thanks for letting us borrow it Sara and Ryan) is a favorite, so they have to take turns.
This evening we decided to run some ice cream by my parents' house that I got for our pool play date on Tuesday. When I took it out to the pool house, I discovered that the water in the pool was getting low and the jets were gurgling. My parents are getting to enjoy some fun time in NYC, but it seems like my dad can't get away from the pool. So I put the hose in to start filling it up and called my dad to figure out what all I needed to do. So our quick trip by the house turned into some pool maintenance time, which is perfectly okay since we are fortunate enough to get to use it so frequently. Now I need to run back over and turn the water off and put some chemicals in and hopefully things will start looking better tomorrow.
