5 Months

It is so hard to believe it, but the twins turned 5 months on Mother's Day.  I see little newborns and mine look so big already.  But first I want to talk about the crazy red head before them.  Lincoln has been so entertaining lately.  Andrew and some of my family say he may be the funniest of our kids.  I don't think I told this story earlier but we were outside playing and Lincoln and Alex headed into the LaBeth's back yard.  A little later, Leah went to check on them and then I heard, "Oh no!"  The LaBeth kids had been keeping an eye on some robin's eggs in a nest in one of their trees and they had a ladder up by the tree.  Well Lincoln climbed up the ladder and we think bit into one of the eggs.  They were all busted up and he had yellow stuff all over his face and his clothes and little blue egg bits on him.  I am thinking he may have thought they were one of those yummy hard-shelled mini Cadbury eggs.  It was kind of gross.  So we went straight home and soaked in the tub.  Then while they were in Bentonville, I guess he spent a lot of time wearing this helmet.

Ryan got an old go-kart from his work and the kids got to try it out a bit before it broke down.  And then Lincoln and I had this conversation the other day.  We were trying to start potty-training but we may wait a few weeks now and see if he is more interested... Me: "Lincoln let's go peepee on the potty." L:"No, I want to watch Micky Mouse." Me:"Let's go peepee on the potty first and then we can watch Mickey Mouse." L:"No, I have to check cows.  I have to check cows all day."  He is already using that excuse.  And to hear him say it is even funnier.  Another funny thing he said was talking about crafts.  Ellie and Katelyn were playing outside and he went with them.  Then they all came running inside because it was Lincoln's nap time and the girls were saying they wanted to do a craft.  Lincoln kept saying, "I want to do crack!"  We'll talk to him about that one later.  Lincoln is also in love with tractors.  His Papa Tom sent Andrew home with some tractor magazines that have different tractors for sale around the country.  He looks at them all the time and takes them to bed with him.  He was also very excited to see a tractor working out in front of his house.

While Ellie and Lincoln were in Bentonville (they had a great time-thanks Mom and Dad- and Sara and Amanda put on a great party/weekend for all the kids) Andrew and Jackson did some turkey hunting and I got to hang out with the twins and get some stuff done around the house.  This was one of my projects-I became an electrician for a few hours and changed out our pendant lights and chandlier in the kitchen.

I like them and it is nice not having the chandelier hanging down over the little table because it seemed to get in the way.  Like this weekend, we had a lunch after the boys' dedication and people didn't have to worry about hitting their head on it while they got their food. 

This past week I got a lot cleaning done around the house.  I cleaned the windows on Monday and it ended up being a great time to do it.  I hate cleaning the windows and then it rains the next day.  It didn't rain all week until Saturday and then it was just a little bit and the windows still look good.  Then I had my last house cleaning on Tuesday and some of the carpets cleaned on Wednesday.  This is the stuff I get excited about-kind of sad. 

Wednesday night we went out to Andrew's parents for dinner.  Lincoln was so excited because he got to go on a ride on the four wheeler and the tractor.  The kids always have a great time playing around out there. 

Then on Thursday, Ellie had her circus at school.  She was a clown, which totally surprised me.  I thought she would have been a ballerina but she totally loved being goofy as a clown.  I think her favorite part was when she got to spray the kids with silly string.

Thursday was also Molly's 20th birthday.  Crazy.  She was lucky enough to her us celebrate with her.  The kids helped her open her gifts and blow out her candles.  I think my parents are pretty fortunate to have Molly as their youngest.  I don't know many 20-year-olds that get as much Disney stuff for their birthdays as Molly does-a Minnie watch, a Tangled beach towel and some Disney movies.  I think it is refreshing.  Jackson and Ellie both had ball practice that night and Andrew was nice enough to do both of them, so he was at the fields for about 2 1/2 hours.  He took Jackson first and then I dropped off Ellie and some dinner for him and picked up Jackson. 

Lissy and Kaitlin and Zane were here this weekend for Mother's Day.  Jackson and Ellie had a sleep over at my parents Friday night and then we hung out with them a little bit on Saturday.  Saturday night, Andrew gave me my Mother's Day present-some beautiful earrings and roses.  He also had cards from the kids for me.  I think the one he enjoyed giving me the most was a card from the boys that had squirrels on the front of it and one of them is the mom with her son talking to the doctor saying, "I can't get him to stop playing with his nuts."  He thought it was pretty appropriate :-).  We celebrated Mother's Day by having the babies and Lincoln (we have been out of town the past few years our church has done the dedications) dedicated at church and then having a little lunch at our house afterwards.  Miles was nice to me and spit up down my side during the dedication prayer.  Lissy got a picture of it, so I'll have to get it from her later.  At least it wasn't like when Kaitlin had diarrhea all over my dad during her baptism. 

After church, our families that were in town headed over to our house.  Lissy and Molly were nice enough to head over a little bit earlier and set out all the food.  I decided to do a little theme for the lunch and it was fun to do something cute after trying to figure out what to do with Jackson's beyblade partyl.  I did bowties and burlap and was able to learn a little more on the Silhouette.  I still have the decorations up just because I think they are fun.

It was a beautiful day outside, so we all headed out to enjoy it.

I hardly have any pictures with the boys, so I wanted to get one.

The rest of my afternoon was spent cleaning up everything and then we headed over to my parents for dinner.  My dad surprised the kids and had heated up the hot tub out by the pool.  They were very excited.  And then they got a little crazy and actually went swimming in the pool even though it was only 69 degrees.  Ellie was the first one to go under and then Jackson followed suit.  Lincoln just hung out on steps-he doesn't have much to keep him warm. 

It was a wonderful Mother's Day and I am so blessed to have an amazing mom that has set such a great example for me-now only if I could follow after her.  And God has given Andrew and I such awesome gifts with each of our kids.  I never imagined being the mother of five kids but now I can't imagine it being any other way.  God definitely has better plans than we do.

And lastly I have a couple random pictures.  One is of Ellie's playtime.  She decided to make "carrot soup" for a few days.  Meaning she would chop up the carrots and put them in a bowl to eat them.  She had a little soup party with her friends.

And I made an attempt to try to get a picture of one of my favorite times with the twins.  I lay them close together and get close to them and they just talk and talk and kind of giggle.  I also love when one of them notices the other and grabs for them-so sweet.
