We were so thankful to have Andrew back this week. We started off the weekend with yet another one of Jackson's football games. They did a good job and even though they aren't supposed to be keeping score, Andrew said they tied which makes their unofficial record 3-0-1. I think the Green Warthog coaches are pretty pleased with that :-). While Andrew as working on Saturday (being gone all week means you have to put in extra hours on the weekend-boo) I put out some of our decorations, inside and out. Then Andrew put the lights up for me on Sunday. The only thing that was missing was our tree and we didn't want to put it up until after the parties on Saturday because I thought it may make things to crowded. Lincoln loves having a nativity set at his level. He really likes playing with all the pieces and they seem pretty indestructible, so I let him have fun even if a lot of my decoration ends up on the floor.
Lincoln has also been interested in putting new batteries in his toys-at least he thinks he should be able to do it.
Jackson and Ellie only had school on Monday and Tuesday and Briley was in town for a few days without her parents so she got to spend an afternoon with us. Ellie and Briley are pretty funny together. They love being around each other and playing but then they fight like sisters. One of the multiple arguments this afternoon was whether or not Ellie's tie dye shirt had "up sleeves" or "short sleeves". They also pulled out about every game in the game cabinet.
For Thanksgiving, we headed out to Tom and Mary's. Annie, Brad and Lauren were in town. We spent most of the day out there enjoying a delicious lunch and hanging out with Andrew's family. The kids found all sorts of things to play with and then it was time for some very short rests.
That night we headed over to Matthew and Kristin's for Ashlyn's third birthday party. Kristin did a great job with a really sweet cowgirl party. I think Ashlyn looks like she is a little bewildered by all the help she has opening her presents.
On Friday, we spent the day with my family. Well Andrew headed out to the ranch for a little bit but he joined us for dinner. Some of us took the "older" kids to see
The Muppets. Jackson and Ellie were so excited to see it. It was a cute movie, but maybe a little long for some kids. That night we had a wonderful dinner and then the kids decided to relax with Papa in the hot tub.
My parents house was pure chaos and we weren't even there that much. I just wish I had been feeling a little better so I could have enjoyed it all more. Jackson and Ellie got to though so they convinced all of us that it was a good idea for them to have a sleepover there on Saturday night.
We had a big day on Saturday. My sisters started showing up around 9:30 or so to get ready for Caroline's wedding shower. All I did was design the paper goods for the shower so my involvement was minimal. The rest of them planned everything else out and made all of the yummy food.
Carolina found my old bear, Barney, and fell in love with him. So sweet.
After the shower, they all helped clean up and switch out the Christmas shower decorations for a some vintage Barbie birthday decorations because we had Ellie's 5th birthday party that night. I was so thankful for all their help and it meant after they left, Andrew and I only had a little left to do and I got to rest for a little bit. Ellie was very excited for her party.
Even though her birthday wasn't until Sunday, we decided to have her party on Saturday so most of our family could come. Annie and Brad had to head out that morning though. But we ended up with over 30 people/kids at the party and Heidi and Jeff stopped by with Brooke and Tyler before they headed out of town too. It was fun having everyone there and Ellie enjoyed all of her presents.
So Sunday was Ellie's actual birthday. It is hard to believe she is five. She just loves getting older, but we don't as much. I love that she is a girly girl who likes pink, dress up, her dolls, makeup and dancing. But she also loves to get in there with her dad and her brothers and wrestle around. She likes to spend her afternoons coloring pictures, making some sort of craft, writing letters and many other things. She also likes to watch old home videos. She is very excited about the babies coming and always gives my belly a hug. We just love our little girl. After church, she spent most of the day playing with her new toys, most of which were some some of crafting/coloring thing. She wanted to eat at La Fuente for her birthday dinner because she wanted them to sing to her and put the sombrero on her. She told me twice to remind them it was her birthday but then she acted all embarrassed when they came out. And to make the night even better she got to get a couple things out of the toy vending machines there-what more could you ask for? And Jackson got in on the action too and got a mustache. He ended up taking it to school the next day to surprise Mrs. Eitel.
Ellie had one last celebration on Monday when she got to celebrate at school with some cupcakes. Lincoln and I stopped by to take some pictures and sing Happy Birthday to her.
And lastly is a picture of our tree. We usually go out to Fouch's Tree Farm and pick out a real tree but decided to go with a fake one this year. One of the main reasons is that I felt like I would about knock down the tree anytime I tried to get under it to water it. My parents have a few fake trees they bought on sale last year and through Craigslist to use for Caroline and Jared's wedding and they let us borrow one for this year. We just need to get all of our stuff off of it and to the Newman Center before the wedding. Even though I miss our real tree, I still think it turned out pretty.
