Christmas Activities

Jackson had his Christmas program Thursday night. I had seen a little bit of their rehearsals when I would pick him from school and he was actually singing this time. His teacher even told me a few times that he was doing really well at practice. But I still didn't want to get my hopes up. Last year he didn't do a thing-just stood there. This year was great though. The program was short and sweet. It was kind of hard to see him at times, but he he sang and did his actions. Then he would try to find us in the crowds and give us his double thumbs up and we had to do them back to him. It was quite an improvement over last year. Then as he was walking out, he gave us the double thumbs up as he walked by our pew. We weren't supposed to take any pictures or video. They thought it would distract the kids. We were able to buy a DVD, so we'll have to see how it turns out. I did try to take one picture, but it was very dark. After the program, he got an ornament from Mrs. Broce and he was very excited about it so we took a picture with it.

Friday night we headed out to watch Molly cheer. The boys were playing Moberly and they got to play in "The Pit" since there was a wrestling tournament going on at the primary school. It was fun being back in the old gym. And the atmosphere was fun because the varsity game was exciting. It was back and forth and pretty quick-paced. I think Moberly thought Kirksville was going to be an easy team to beat, but we were actually ahead at half-time. We even got to see little (not little anymore though) David Ray Hagan slam dunk. We also got to see Molly fly, which is new for her this year, and she did a good job. We left at half-time, but I saw on the news later that Moberly did end up winning.

This morning we had Addie and Gracie over to decorate Christmas cookies. Jackson and Ellie were very excited to have them over. First they all got to cut some cookies out (I think they ate half of the dough though) and then they played in the basement until the cookies were ready to be decorated. Tiffany came over a little later and got to help with damage control while the decorating was going on. The kids had fun mixing their icing and decorating with the sprinkles. I had taped some wax paper to the table which helped contain the mess a little bit. Next was consuming their creations along with some hot chocolate and then a little more play time. I think overall the kids had a good time and it is fun to see them playing together like we used to do.

It is hard to believe Christmas is less than two weeks away. I still have some presents to put together and then I need to wrap. This pregnancy has made it hard to get motivated sometimes though. I have so many things I want to get done, but I'm just so tired. Oh well, maybe I can rest after Christmas.
