Next up in my catch up is April and May. Since much of our lives revolves around our kids a lot of our time is spent with sports. April was full of soccer and track while May brought even more variety with soccer, track, baseball and even a little basketball. Ellie and Lincoln played both rec and travel soccer while the twins just had rec soccer. And for Ellie, it was the last season she was eligible for club soccer. Rec soccer was just at home on Saturday mornings while for travel soccer, we went to Moberly, Columbia and Mexico. They all kept improving through the season and it is so fun to watch them play. With track, we were all over the northern/central part of Missouri. They didn't travel quite as much as they have in the past as there were still some cautions with Covid. Jackson kept improving on his times and enjoyed his season. And then in May, the twins started their baseball practices and had a couple games. It was a little bit of a struggle since the season was canceled last year.
When time would allow, we got outside too. They played soccer, baseball, basketball and football in the backyard. Andrew did some camping with them out at the ranch and worked on the bike trail some. There was that crazy day we got snow towards the end of April, but it quickly melted away.
We had several celebrations starting with Easter. Some of my family came into town which is always fun. We spent time at my parents' house and then Easter morning, the kids had to search for their baskets before we went to church. Then it was to my parents' house for lunch and the Easter egg hunt. Jackson and Ellie found the golden and silver eggs, so they were pretty happy.
Next up was Jackson's 17th birthday. He had a track meet in Chillicothe, so we let him open his gifts in the car and then we met my parents at Pear Tree for his birthday dinner. So hard to believe he is so close to being a legal adult. We love that kid!
We also celebrated Mother's Day by having both of our moms over for dinner and then we went up to Pella to celebrate Gabbie's baptism.
Ellie had a couple of fun celebrations starting with their Spring Dance. She didn't get one her 7th grade year and the school actually canceled the 8th grade one too, but some parents organized one for them. She went out to her friend Elise's house to get ready and eat dinner. they were all so pretty. Then they all got together again for their 8th Grade Parade that they have decided to do instead of a graduation/promotion ceremony. Ellie was excited to be able to move onto high school, but she did a great job during middle school.
And just like Ellie ended her 8th grade year, the other kids celebrated the end of school, so ready to take on the summer.
