So I didn’t do a good job at all of keeping track of
stuff this week. Good thing I took some pictures to remind me. After the two
triathlons, I took a bit of a break from training for a few days and slept in a
bit. The twins helped me recover by cooking for me and then they asked me to
join them at their picnic.
Ellie and the twins were both supposed to have field
trips Tuesday morning so I was going to try to divide my time between both of
them. But then the twins’ was canceled and Ellie’s got shortened a bit since
they were going to Truman and the students were taking finals. I met the class
at the planetarium and we watched a presentation on the different aspects of
space. That night Ellie and Lincoln
finally had ball practice without it being rained out. The bad thing about
baseball/softball is that the field is all the way on the other side of town.
Plus their practices aren’t timed too conveniently. Lincoln goes from 5-6,
while Ellie starts at 6:30. So I did a lot of back and forth. I decided since we
had a little bit of time in between practices, we would go scope out flowers
and Home Depot and Walmart to see what they all had. But then I ended up
staying late after Lincoln’s practice since a couple of brothers on his team
were still at the field. I texted their mom and she said she was on her way, so
I waited until she got there. Andrew was on a bike ride but then he came over
to catch the end of Ellie’s practice while I took the other kids home. After we
played outside for a bit I let the guilt get the best of me and I ended up
making some cookies for Teacher Appreciation Week. I usually don’t do anything
since we give them something just a couple weeks later at the end of school,
but I decided the cookies would be a quick, easy treat. I even found a tag
online that I was able to print off and attach to the bag.
We didn’t have small group on Wednesday but Jackson had
practice. Andrew took him while the rest of us enjoyed some time outside with
the nice weather. The next morning I was able to get all of my flowers and
potting soil and also do my grocery shopping. I got everything home and put
away and then it was time to pick up the twins at school. It was See You at the
Pole day and I felt bad that they were all gathering around the flag pole for
prayer and we weren’t able to stay. Any other day we would have but we were
going to eat lunch with Lincoln and he was so excited that we couldn’t be late.
The twins were very excited about bringing their lunch boxes (you can’t bring
in any fast food of any kind during lunch-you can only eat their lunch or pack
a lunch from home). Lincoln gave us a big hug when he saw us. We sat next to
some funny girls that talked to me through most of the lunch J. But lunch was quickly over and we were on our
way home.
That night we had a little going-away ice cream social
for the Harrisons at the K-Life house. They were having a super club with both
middle school and high school (a color war which looked like fun) so we just
did it before that and said our goodbyes. The twins enjoyed some cake before we
left.
When we got home, some of the neighbor kids were playing
on their Ziggles with them all strapped together so our kids joined in too.
Friday I got back to training and did a ride on the
trainer. Then we went outside and the twins played while I potted my flowers.
The twins decided it would be a good idea to lock each other in Buddy’s cage.
I had to move quickly with the flowers as we had to get
to Jackson’s Dare graduation. I had been warned it was long and boring (didn’t
even mention it to the grandparents) so I bribed the twins with going to the
park afterwards if they were good. The graduation lasted just over an hour and
you could tell Jackson was so pumped about it. The twins did pretty well so we
headed to the park afterwards. We had about a half hour before we had to pick
up the other kids, so it worked out well.
That evening my family started getting into town for
Molly’s graduation. First we got to see her display of her capstone project at
the Art Center. She did a rebranding for my dad’s office and did a great job
with it. We got there right at the beginning because Andrew needed to get out
to the ranch. The rest of my family showed up as we were leaving.
So since I got back to my parents’ house early, I got all
the food out and going that my mom had prepared ahead of time so that it was
ready to go when they all got home. And then that night we officially opened the
pool with Ellie and Jackson being the first ones in. They swam in the pool off
and on and would warm up in the hot tub. Then that night they all slept at my
parents’ house except Jackson since he was going hunting the next morning and
then had ball practice.
Andrew and Jackson went hunting early Saturday morning
and were back in time to head to his ball practice at 8:30. We had a morning of
practices with Jackson at 8:30, Ellie at 9:30 and Lincoln at 11. Soon it was
time to head home and get ready for the graduation. Andrew was nice enough to
stay home with the twins while the took a nap J.
And I didn’t really notice it until we were on our way but there were some dark
clouds rolling in. I grabbed a couple umbrellas from my car just in case and we
walked from Barnett over to the stadium. On the way there, we saw Biscuit, who
use to lead worship at our church, and he showed me the radar that showed the
rain coming. But they kept everything going and brought in all the graduates.
We had a few sprinkles here and there along with some lightning. It got pretty
windy and the temperature dropped. They went ahead and started the ceremony but
cut straight to the commencement speaker and just as he started speaking, the
rain started coming down. Some of our family left earlier and at this point
most of the rest of us started taking shelter under the stadium. Soon it was
pouring. Andy and Autumn stayed under their umbrella to watch it and I guess the
speaker was trying to yell over the rain until President Paino stopped his
speech and quickly conferred degrees upon the graduates and told them they
could go. Molly found us under the stadium and we all left for my parents. Some
graduates did stick around until after the rain ended and even walked across
the stage.
After we got home, we decided to give my parents the gift
we had put together for them as a congratulations for all 8 of their kids
graduating from college mixed in with Mother’s Day and father’s Day. We gave
them a “pot of gold” with cash in it to use for their trip to Ireland.
That evening we had dinner out around the pool and the
kids swam again. Then while we were cleaning everything up, we think Grayson
fell into the hot tub. A few of the kids were in there and Ellie said she heard
a splash and saw Grayson under water. She got him out of the hot tub while the
others went to go get adults that were in the pool house. I was in the main
house when someone came running in yelling to call 911. My dad thinks that he
may have fallen in the pool since he had an abrasion on his arm and he may have
experienced a vaso vagal reaction that caused him to pass out. He could feel a
pulse and see his chest rising but he wasn’t alert. Then Grayson vomited and by
the time the ambulance (along with a fire truck and several police cars) got
there he was screaming mad. They went ahead and took him to the hospital and
ended up keeping him overnight just to observe him. I buddied up with Preston
since he was sad that his mom and dad were gone. I didn’t want to disrupt that
so I called Andrew to see if he could come pick up the kids since he had
already gone home. I think he was about asleep so I was grateful that he came.
After a while, we got Preston settled in and Kaitlin and I ran some clothes and
extras by the hospital for Amanda and Todd.
Sunday was Mother’s Day and we started our day with
church before heading to my parents for breakfast. Grayson was doing great so
everyone was happy. After the meal, everyone started heading home. Amanda and
her crew decided to stay another night since they didn’t sleep much in the
hospital and also didn’t have anything ready to go. I was planning on having my
parents, Molly, Andrew’s parents and Matthew and Kristin in for dinner so we
just added the Bobziens to it. I ran to the store and picked up a few extra
things. Andrew had hoped to go out to the ranch or go for a bike ride but the
rain kept that from happening. He ended up taking the twins to the office with
him for a while while I worked on everything around the house…trying to get
caught up on laundry, cleaning, prepping all the food for dinner. I did get a
few cute presents to enjoy for Mother’s Day. Ellie made me some coupons for me
to cash in on around the house while the twins and Lincoln made me little books
where they answered questions about me. They were very sweet. And we had
decided that the kitchen remodel pretty much takes care of any gifts from
Andrew for a while J. And I tried to take a selfie with the kids. This tells you how often I do it because I think it was the first one I have done one this phone and I didn't realize it had a selfie mode that makes all of us look photoshopped :-).
Dinner went well that evening except Andrew had to grill
in the rain. But we had more than enough food and I think after setting out a
couple extra tables, everyone had someplace to eat. It was a nice way to end
Mother’s Day and the week.
