Although we missed him, the kids and I fared well while
he was gone. I really do appreciate him helping with school pick-up and drop-off. I always did it before the twins were born, but he does most of it now. I still try to get moving early in the mornings, I just don't have to deal with loading up the twins. My OCD self still likes to have to have the laundry started, dishwasher emptied, the bottles for the day ready, babies fed, breakfast cleaned up, the house clean, and all of us dressed and ready before they leave for school. It makes us late some times (and frustrates Andrew :-)) because I just can't give it up (The twins are usually fed but not dressed by the time Andrew leaves with the kids, so I just had to up the schedule a bit to make sure we were all ready. With Jackson and Ellie it isn't a big deal because you can just pull up and drop them off, but you have to walk Lincoln in and sign him in. With one baby it isn't a big deal, but with two it is a little more of a challenge. Last year I would just carry both car seats in but that doesn't work anymore. So I have to unload the stroller, get them out of their car seats and into the stroller and do it all again when we come back out. So yes, I really appreciate Andrew doing all of that. The twins each decided to
bless me with their first diaper blow outs-one the day after the first. With Bennett, I was getting ready to change
him on our family room floor and realized this wasn’t going to be good. So I took him into the changing table and
when I finished up and came back out, Miles had emptied all of the wipes out of
the container I had in the family room.
They definitely keep me busy. We
had a good routine going but now they are wanting to change it up a bit as far
as feeding. Some days they will take all
of their bottles and other days they don’t want much. It is frustrating to me to waste formula
though J I have tried sippy cups and even though they
love to get a hold of Lincoln’s, they weren’t too crazy about their own. And I know we need to explore more solid
foods besides baby food (they have liked the few bites they have received at
the dinner table)I just know it is going to make dinner time even more
hectic. I also had to change out car
seats. Amanda loaned us hers and she is
going to need them soon, so it was time to switch. My parents are going to take them when they
go down to Dallas when the twins are born.
So I cleaned up and adjusted our bigger car seats (took forever because
one strap was twisted and it was like a puzzle to get it figured out) then got
them installed. Then I cleaned up and
adjusted Amanda’s so they are all ready for Preston and Greyson.
On Wednesday we had small group and Jackson was so sweet
afterwards helping me out. He said that
Dad had told him to help me, so he kept asking me what he could do. I had him vacuum up the messes from small
group snack time and then he folded up some rags that were in the dryer while I
was doing bath time. Lincoln would
probably be upset if I called him my “good helper” because that is supposed to
be Lincoln’s title. Which is generally
is too. Like today, he brought down the
laundry basket from upstairs without me even telling him. It is usually Jackson’s job, but he likes to
do it too.
My parents had us over for dinner Thursday night and they
watched the kids while I took Jackson to his last football game on Friday. Andrew was still out of town and it was a
little chilly for the boys. It was crazy
to be there all by myself though. Part
way through the game I got a call from Andrew saying they had won and he was
starting home. Andrew thought it was
highly likely that they would lose, so this was a big shock. He put in a lot of hours. The jury took around 8 hours to decide on
Friday after closing arguments and I know the day before they were in court for
over 13 hours. Andrew works so hard and
is just really good at what he does. We
were all proud of him. It was a tiring
week for all of us so it was no shock that we were fine with the rain and
cancelled soccer games the next day. I
was able to finish up some office work I had been trying to work on all week
and we got to hang out at my parents a bit with Caroline and Jared who were
back in town for the weekend. And since
we didn’t have any soccer games, Andrew decided it would be best to go to his
Uncle O.W.’s funeral over in western Missouri.
O.W. was one of Tom’s older
brothers. Andrew ended up taking Jackson
and Ellie along with him and they just drove over for the funeral and came
right back. Saturday was also the twins
10 month birthday. I can’t believe that
they are so close to being one. I really
need to start thinking about their party more.
I have a theme, just need to move on from there. I have tried to get some video and pictures
of them fighting because it is kind of entertaining, at least right now. They mainly fight over remotes and
phones. One will try to grab it from the
other and they both ended up screaming and grabbing for the object. Today Miles tried a new tactic. When Bennett tried to grab the phone, Miles
held onto it with both hands and tried to use his head to push Bennett away. It was pretty funny to watch because he kept
doing it.
I realized I didn’t really have any pictures from this
past week. We dressed in our Cardinal
red today. It is so exciting to watch
them in the playoffs again.
And here is my Monday/Friday crew. Lincoln doesn’t go to school on these days
and gets to hang out with us. He
entertains us with his favorite songs-I’m in the Lord’s Army and Jesus Loves Me
J. I can even sometimes hear him singing them up
in his bed.
